Blake Shelton has denied rumors of divorce from Gwen Stefani.
“Starting around October or November, I started seeing articles saying, ‘Blake and Gwen have broken up,'” the country singer told County Countdown USA in an interview shared on Saturday.
He recalled an article in which he said he and Stefani were “no longer seeing each other” and claimed they were “considering divorce.”
“And then, you know, a week later, a picture of us coming out of the grocery store came out,” Shelton, 49, said, explaining that the headline at the time was, “Oh, they’re back together again!”
“And then another week went by and we weren’t seen in the grocery store (and the article said, ‘We’re getting divorced!’),” he joked.
The “God’s Country” singer then commented on the time he saw doctored photos of himself online, saying he found them convincing, but now “I don’t believe anything I see on the internet anymore.”
Shelton and Stefani, 56, were at the forefront of breakup rumors last year when they released their duet, “Hangin’ On,” in March.
However, Shelton told Access Hollywood that the song was not a “reflection” of his and the No Doubt singer’s marriage.
Rumors arose after the couple did not attend the CMA Awards in November, even though Shelton’s song “Pour Me a Drink” was nominated for Musical Event of the Year.
Shelton and Stefani haven’t appeared on the red carpet together since The Grand Ole Opry’s OPRY 100 celebration in March.
Meanwhile, the “Don’t Speak” songstress also silenced the breakup controversy by sharing PDA-filled snaps with her husband, including a video of them sharing a New Year’s kiss.
She and Shelton met while working as coaches on “The Voice” in 2014 and married in 2021.
Stefani previously said the best marriage advice she received was to have a third party, God, in her relationship with Shelton.
The “Hollaback Girl” singer also credited Shelton with giving her a “second chance at life” after her divorce from Gavin Rossdale, whom she was married to from 2002 to 2016.
As for Shelton, he was married to Kaynette Williams from 2003 to 2006 and Miranda Lambert from 2011 to 2015.
