Netflix has announced its 2026 Korean content lineup, headlined by Blackpink’s Jisoo, Gong Yoo, and Song Hye Kyo, as the streamer celebrates its 10th anniversary in the Asia-Pacific region.
The lineup includes series, movies, and unscripted titles organized around five emotional experiences: romance, depth and desire, edge-of-your-seat thrills, comedy, and genre-bending wonder.
Jisoo stars in the romantic comedy series “Boyfriend on Demand,” playing Seo Mi-rae, a weary webtoon producer who signs up for a virtual dating simulation service. Seo In Guk will co-star as a colleague and rival producer. The series will be directed by Kim Jong-sik, known for “Work Later, Drink Now” and “No Gain No Love.”
Gong Yoo and Song Hye Kyo will reunite in the historical drama “Tantara,” which is set in the Korean entertainment industry from the 1960s to the 1980s. The series is a chronicle of people who risked everything for success, written by Noh Hee-kyung (“Our Blues,” “Dear My Friends”) and directed by Lee Yoon-jung (“Coffee Prince,” “Cheese in the Trap”).
Acclaimed film director Lee Chang-dong (“Burning”) returns to directing after eight years with “Possible Love” (tentative title), marking his first collaboration with Netflix. The movie stars Jeon Do-young, Sol Kyung-gu, Zo In-sung, and Cho Yeo-jeong, and is about two couples who lead different lives and whose worlds collide.
The romance category continues with “Can This Love Be Translate?” The film, starring Kim Seong-ho and Go Yoon-jung, premiered on January 16th alongside “No Tail to Tell,” starring Kim Hye-yoon and Romong.
Other romantic series include “Our Sticky Love” starring Jung Hae In and Hayoung, “Take Charge of My Heart” starring Kim Young Kwang and Choi Soo Bin, and “Sold Out On You” starring Ahn Hyo Seop and Choi Won Bin.
Reality dating series “Singles Inferno” is back for Season 5, becoming the first Korean reality show to reach that milestone. “Better Late Than Single” will also return for season two.
Thrillers include “The Art of Sarah,” directed by Kim Jin-min (“Extracurricular Lessons,” “My Name”) and starring Shin Hye-sun and Lee Jun-hyuk. In “Notes from the Last Row,” Choi Min-sik plays a literature professor who is obsessed with a genius student, and “The Mousetrap” is a suspense thriller based on Kakao Entertainment’s webtoon “Field Mouse,” starring Ryu Jun-yeol and Sol Kyung-gu.
“The Scandal,” starring Son Ye-jin, Ji Chang-wook, and Nana, is based on the 2003 film “Untold Scandal,” which depicts forbidden love during the Joseon Dynasty. “The East Palace” is a supernatural thriller about the mysteries of a palace, starring Nam Joo-hyuk, Noh Yoon-seo, and Cho Seung-woo.
The action returns with ‘Bloodhound’ Season 2. Woo Do Hwan and Lee Sang Yi will be reunited with new cast member Jeon Ji Hoon. Han Joon Hee, director of “DP” and “Weak Hero,” will direct the cross-border murder thriller “Road” (tentative title) starring Song Seok and Eita Nagayama.
The comedy lineup includes “Husband in Action,” an action comedy starring Jin Sung-gyu and Gong Myung in which a woman’s ex-husband and current husband work together to rescue a woman. “Mission: Cross 2” stars Hwang Jung-min and Yeom Jeong-ah again, while “Undercover Miss Hong” is an office comedy set in the 1990s starring Park Shin-hye.
Unscripted productions include “Culinary Class Wars” Season 3, which returns in a team-based format after hitting the global top 10 in Netflix’s non-English speaking rankings. “The Devil’s Plan” returns for Season 3, and “Agents of Mystery” returns for Season 2, with new team members Gabby joined by Lee Yong-jin, John Park, Lee Hae-ri, Kim Do-hoon, and Karina.
Producer Na Young-seok will deliver two new reality series. One is “Ready or Not: Texas,” which follows Lee Seo-jin’s spontaneous trip to the United States, and the other is “Take a Hike!,” which follows an inexperienced hiker through the snowy mountains of South Korea. “Jae Suk’s B&B Rules” starring Yoo Jae Suk! “Kian’s Bizarre B&B” will return for season 2, co-starring Lee Kwang Soo, Byun Woo Seok, and Ji Ye Eun.
Genre-bending titles include Wonder Fools, a 1999-set comedy-action adventure starring Park Eun-bin and Cha Eun-woo about townspeople who acquire superpowers; “If Wishes Could Kill” will be Netflix’s first Korean young adult horror series, while “Dead-End Job” is a mystery horror fantasy produced by Kim Da-min and Han Joon-hee, starring Lee Jae-wook, Go Min-si, Kim Min-ha, and Lee Hee-jun.
“Teach You a Lesson” is a series starring Kim Mu-yeol and Lee Sung-min about a fictional government task force that restores teachers’ authority. “We are all working hard here” will feature Goo Kyo-hwan, Go Yoon-jung, and Oh Jung-se.
Among the films to be released is Lee Jong Pil’s latest film, “Pavane,” starring Go Ah Sung, Byun Yo Han, and Moon Sang Min.
Dong Kang, vice president of Korean content at Netflix, said: “Content created in Korean, a language spoken by just 50 million of the world’s 8 billion people, has become the most-watched content in the world after English content. Over the past five years, more than 210 Korean titles have ranked in the top 10 worldwide.”
The announcement coincides with Netflix’s 10th anniversary in the Asia-Pacific region. Minyoung Kim, vice president of content for APAC (excluding India), highlighted the streamer’s decade-long regional investments, from anime expansion in Japan to groundbreaking series in Southeast Asia and Australia.
“Each of these stone tablets reflects what Netflix represents in the region: our commitment to celebrating and partnering with Asia Pacific’s vibrant creative community and its great storytelling voices,” Kim said. “And as countries continue to expand the diversity of their stories and take bigger and bolder creative risks, APAC will continue to expand its position on the global entertainment stage.”
