A phone call with Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan (the trio infamously dubbed the “Bimbo Summit” by the Post in 2006) was the “last straw” in Kevin Federline’s marriage to the pop star.
Spears’ ex-husband claims in his newly published memoir, You Thought You Knew, that Spears prioritized partying with friends over caring for her children.
“I was in Miami on business and trying to focus on my commitments when I got a phone call,” the former backup dancer writes of a particularly hurtful moment.
“It was my girlfriend, Paris Hilton, and Lindsay Lohan who answered the phone. They were all drunk and begging me to come. I could hear Preston and Jaden crying in the background. It must have been 3 or 4 a.m. That call was a last resort.”
He continued, “I had already seen pictures in the tabloids of her being out all night and partying in Malibu, Paris.
“But then I heard my kids crying while she was doing something, and God knows what? That was it. Any glimmer of hope that I had ever had that I might be able to make it for them disappeared in that moment.”
Federline, now 47, detailed that Spears, now 43, “wasn’t ready to change” and “couldn’t keep waiting for her to figure it out.”
Federline and Spears were married for just two years, when Federline filed for dissolution of their marriage in November 2006, before their divorce was finalized in July 2007.
The former couple welcomed Sean Preston and Jaden in 2005 and 2006, respectively.
K-Fed also reveals in his book that being slapped by the “Toxic” singer was a turning point in their short-lived marriage.
At the time, Spears allegedly “went wild” after one of Federline’s friends dropped marijuana at her home.
However, it is said that this was not the last time violence broke out between the pair, as the ‘Crossroads’ star detailed a fight in which he threw a drink at him.
He claims that during a release party for her 2006 album Playing with Fire, he “saw Britney and a friend of her young star athletes smoking fat cokes from a table.”
A woman allegedly threw a drink in a man’s face after he begged her not to go home and breastfeed her children because of her drug use.
“It was the proverbial final test, breastfeeding. Her reaction. It was the end for us,” he wrote.
Federline also makes more disturbing allegations in his book about the “Circus” diva, including that she punched her eldest son in the face, that she wished her children had died, and that she held a knife in her hand and watched them sleep.
He also accused her of cheating on him early in their relationship and of contacting ex Justin Timberlake the day before their wedding.
Neither Spears nor her camp have responded to the specific allegations, but her rep told Page Six, “With the news that Kevin’s book has been published, he and others are once again profiting off of her. Sadly, this comes after her child support agreement with Kevin has ended.”
Spears’ spokesperson said: “All she cares about is her children and their well-being during this sensational activity.”
The rep also noted that the singer has already detailed her journey in a memoir, The Woman in Me, which was published in October 2023.
Spears herself wrote on social media:
“Actually, I’m a very intelligent woman who has tried for the past five years to live a sacred and private life. I speak about this because I’ve been through enough and any real woman would do the same,” she added.
In a second post, she accused Federline of spreading false stories.
“Why is he so angry…and the scary thing is, he’s so vindictive,” she said of Federline’s press tour appearance. “I literally freaked out when he stopped before he started crying. Are you serious?”
