“Real Time With Bill Maher” has been renewed for two more seasons, extending the political talk series on HBO until 2028.
As previously announced, Maher will be rebroadcast with the Season 24 premiere on January 23rd and will be available on cable and HBO Max. The program was also aired on CNN the next day.
Airing Friday nights, “Real Time” is a buzzy, often unfiltered series that brings together some of the biggest names in politics, technology, media and entertainment for lively and sometimes tense panel discussions. Each episode also includes Maher’s monologue, one-on-one interviews, and a signature editorial corner, “New Rules.” The show’s “Overtime” segment has become popular on YouTube.
Mr. Maher has hosted “Real Time” since 2003, following the collapse of his previous series, “Politically Incorrect,” which aired on Comedy Central and then ABC. The show has boasted over 700 episodes and has featured guests such as Elon Musk, Bernie Sanders, Ben Shapiro, Joe Biden, Robin Williams, Nancy Pelosi, Charlie Sheen, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Mark Cuban, and Ben Affleck.
Maher first headlined a comedy special on the network in 1989 and has had 13 solo specials on cable television to date, making him a hallmark of HBO programming. His latest hour, “Bill Maher: IsEveryone Else Seeing This?”, has been nominated for a Golden Globe Award.
“Real Time” will be executive produced by Maher, Sheila Griffiths, Dean Johnsen, Billy Martin and Mark Gurvitz. Chris Kelly is co-executive producer, Matt Wood is producer and Paul Casey is director.
