Magenta Light Studios has appointed Bill Burgos as head of digital film distribution, where he will oversee the studio’s digital release strategy and platform partnerships.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Bill Vergos to the Magenta Light team,” Bob Yari, CEO of Magenta Light Studios, said in a statement.
“His exceptional track record in digital distribution and deep understanding of the evolving streaming landscape make him an invaluable asset as we continue to expand our global footprint. Bill’s vision and leadership will help ensure Magenta Light’s diverse film oeuvre reaches audiences everywhere on both established and emerging digital platforms.”
Vergos joins the studio from Freestyle Digital Media, where he was head of digital film distribution for 15 years. During his tenure, he founded, launched, and oversaw the entire department.
Under his leadership, Freestyle has released more than 700 titles and spearheaded a digital strategy that connects independent filmmakers with audiences around the world across theatrical, TVOD, SVOD, AVOD and emerging FAST channels.
“Bob Yari has spent his career championing independent storytellers, and being a part of that mission at Magenta Light Studio feels like a natural step,” Vargos said.
“Independent filmmaking has always been rooted in creativity, risk, and community, and it’s the world I feel most connected to. Magenta Light Studio’s goal is to be a home for independent filmmakers and a place where bold stories, original ideas, and passionate creators can reach audiences in truly new and meaningful ways.”
His career highlights include “All’s Well in New York” starring Emmy Award winner Riza Colon-Zayas (“The Bear”), “All Happy Families” starring Josh Radnor (“How I Met Your Mother”), the animated feature “Unicorn Boy” starring Patton Oswalt and Katie Leclerc, and the Slamdance Award winner “Daruma” starring Tobias Forrest and Abigail Hawke.
Vergos brings more than 25 years of experience across film, television and digital media. A graduate of the film program at Emerson College in Boston, his career includes credits in over 30 commercials, feature films, and music videos.
