Bette Midler is updating fans on the progress of Hocus Pocus 3.
During a recent appearance on “Watch What Happens Live,” the “Beaches” star said that “Hocus Pocus 3” producers are currently working out “all the logistics” before filming begins. She also revealed that she recently read an early draft of the script and thought it was “great.”
“Well, they sent me scripts, and a lot of them were great,” she said. “So I got really excited, and now I’m trying to figure out what it is, where it’s going to be done, how much it’s going to cost, and all the other logistical things.”
Midler last discussed the Hocus Pocus 3 script in July 2024. During an appearance on QVC+’s talk show “Busy This Week,” she urged Disney to speed up development of the long-awaited sequel.
“I haven’t seen the script, but I’ve heard rumors,” Midler said at the time. “If they’re going to do that, I think they should, because time doesn’t just move on, it’s hurtling toward the finish line. Bring us while we’re still breathing, I mean, God!”
Former Walt Disney Pictures president Sean Bailey revealed in a 2023 profile in The New York Times that “Hocus Pocus 3 is in the works.” The first film, released in 1993, starred Midler alongside Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy as a trio of witches who return from the 17th century to wreak havoc in modern-day Salem. Parker and Najimy are expected to return for the third film.
Hocus Pocus 2 has become the most-watched original film on Disney+ since its release in 2022, with 2.7 billion minutes watched in its opening weekend.
