Bethenny Frankel thinks Daryl Hannah could have done a “better” job delivering a scathing critique of Ryan Murphy’s “Love Story.”
The “Real Housewives of New York City” alum shared her “opinions on Daryl Hannah’s views” in a TikTok video on Sunday.
Ms. Frankel, 55, told her followers that she believes the 65-year-old actress was “totally justified” in a bombshell New York Times essay condemning her “whiny” portrayal of John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette on the Hulu series.
However, Bravolebrities said, “If she had educated the audience about the many things that are contradictory, I think that particular portrayal of her, which is contradictory, would have been more believable.”
“If she listed 10 ways this story is false, we would believe her portrayal is false,” the former reality star continued.
Frankel went on to call the show, which stars Paul Anthony Kelly and Sarah Pidgeon, “the most(ish) of fiction.”
“I’ve been to Calvin Klein showrooms and nothing like that happened. … The difference is that while people my age know it’s sensationalism for entertainment, success and ratings, the younger generation believes it’s true,” she argued.
The Skinnygirl creator likened the project to “Titanic,” saying, “There are so many ways to entertain an audience and get them to hear a story. The story is like the foundation or framework.”
Frankel stressed that the show had “so many mistakes,” noting that many “characters were completely left out of the story.”
What’s most notable about the nine episodes is that they cover everything from Kennedy Jr. and Bessette’s love story to their tragic deaths in a 1999 plane crash.
Dree Hemingway plays Hannah, who dated Kennedy Jr. on and off from 1988 to 1994 before breaking up with Bessette.
The “Blade Runner” star on Friday slammed the show for “exploiting tragedy,” labeling it a “false…distortion” with “embellishment.”
Not only did Hannah deny being “annoying and narcissistic and inappropriate,” she also fired back at specific story points, ranging from “comparing Jacqueline Onassis’s death to the death of a dog” to “desecrating family heirlooms.”
Murphy has yet to respond to Hanna’s viral essay.
Kennedy Jr.’s cousin, Douglas Kennedy, told Page Six last week that Hannah was “amazing” and called the show, which he hasn’t seen yet, a “misinterpretation” of her character.
“Love Story” airs every Thursday (9 p.m.) on FX and Fridays on Hulu.
