Behind-the-scenes stories of the NCIS: Sydney cast’s love lives

There’s already no shortage of drama and heartwarming moments as NCIS: Sydney season 3 progresses.

The first international edition of the NCIS franchise, Australian Military Police Proceeding follows a team of Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) and Australian Federal Police (AFP) officers as they investigate various military activities.

Although the series primarily focuses on dramatic cases, it also features love between characters, including a potential romance between Special Agent DeSean Jackson (Sean Sager) and AFP liaison Officer Evie Cooper (Turi Narkle).

“I think time will tell if it becomes anything more than that, but it’s interesting to note that a large portion of the readership is going to tell it,” executive producer Morgan O’Neal told TV Insider in March 2025.

There’s a lot of drama on NCIS: Sydney, but the cast members’ lives look different away from the camera. Actors Sager and Naakul have good chemistry on the show, but both seem to be single.

However, several stars have been in long-term relationships, including Todd Lasance, who has been dating his wife Jordan Wilcox since 2015, and Bert Labonte, who married his wife Amanda Labonte in 2002.

olivia swan

Swan will play NCIS Special Agent Lt. Michelle McKee in the international spinoff. Although her character may be American, Swann is actually British, born in London.

It’s unclear if Swann is dating anyone, but she was obsessed with the city of Sydney while filming this movie.

“I completely fell in love with this place and I don’t want to leave,” she told InStyle Australia in December 2023.

Todd Lasance and Jordan Wilcox

Lasance plays Sergeant Jim “JD” Dempsey of the Australian Federal Police, keeping the streets of Sydney safe.

In the series, JD and Michelle have grown close, but in real life, Todd is married to Jordan Wilcox Lasance. The two met in 2015 and married five years later.

“Before we met, I had always been a long-term relationship type of person. When she came into my world, I wasn’t looking for her,” Lasance told The Sydney Morning Herald in June 2017. “She is a selfless person with a calming nature that balances out my hyperactivity. I am in awe of her generosity and empathy.”

Lasance and Jordan have two children together, daughter Charlie Rose born in 2016 and son Beau born in 2023.

Sean Sager

Sager will play Special Agent Jackson. His relationship status may be private, but he’s in love with his NCIS: Sydney co-stars.

“It still doesn’t feel real. I’m so happy the world gets to see what these amazing people next to me and off camera have created. It was an amazing moment in my life and one I’ll never forget,” he wrote on Instagram in November 2023, sharing an image of the NCIS: Sydney cast at the series’ global launch event.

Sagar dated Little Mix member Jesy Nelson in 2020, but they broke up the following year.

Turi Narkle

Fans may be shipping Narkle’s character, Officer Cooper, and Sager’s Jackson, but their relationship status off-screen is unknown at this time.

Regarding Cooper and Jackson’s relationship, Turi told Parade: “Deep down, I know it’s all about love.” “I know she loves DeSean Jackson, so in my head I’m like, ‘This is a great on-screen and off-screen dynamic to bring these characters to life in front of an audience.'”

mavonnie hazell and josh mackenzie

Hazel will play forensic scientist Bluebird “Blue” Gleason. In the series, her character prioritizes lab work over love, but in real life, the former Neighbors star is dating fellow actor Josh McKenzie.

According to PFLAG, in an interview with Sports Girl magazine in January 2019, Mavornyi came out as a demisexual, meaning someone who only feels sexual attraction to someone after they have established an emotional relationship with them.

“I used to think that there was something wrong with me or that I was broken because I wasn’t interested in the love game, but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that there are different sides to me,” she revealed. “Dating isn’t that much of a priority, and it never has been.”

“My definition of love is very different than anyone else’s,” Hazel added.

Bert Labonte and Amanda Labonte

Labonte plays Special Agent Ken Carter on NCIS: Sydney. In real life, he is married to actress Amanda Labonte.

They married in 2002 and had two sons.

“Photo taken 22 years ago today at the same location where we took our wedding photos. Happy anniversary, baby! I couldn’t be more lucky than to spend my life with you,” he wrote on Instagram in April 2024.
