Savannah Guthrie called her mother, Nancy Guthrie, her “everything” before the matriarch went missing.
In a touching birthday tribute to his mother that he shared on Instagram in January 2020, the Today host praised Nancy as a “mother like no other.”
“My mother Nancy is my heart, my everything, and an example of what a mother should be. Thank you God for her 78 beautiful years! Happy Birthday, Mom!!!,” she captioned a merry-go-round of photos of the two of them.
Savannah also posted several sweet photos of her mother and her two children with husband Michael Feldman.
Despite the post being six years old, Savannah’s fans flooded the comments section with prayers that her mother would be found safely.
The 84-year-old is currently missing from her home in Arizona. According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, she was last seen at her home in the Catalina Foothills on Saturday night around 9:30 p.m. local time.
At a press conference Monday, Sheriff Chris Nanos acknowledged that Nancy’s home is being treated as a “crime scene.”
“Now that we have processed that crime scene, we believe there is an actual crime scene, there was an actual crime, and we are asking for the community’s cooperation,” Nanos explained, insisting that Nancy “did not leave on her own.”
Nanos said authorities currently have Nancy’s cellphone in their possession and will analyze it for clues, but asked the public to help in the search.
The journalist skipped Monday’s episode of “Today” but shared a statement with his co-hosts, saying, “On behalf of our family, we would like to thank everyone for your thoughts, prayers, and messages of support. Right now, we remain focused on the safe return of our beloved mother.”
“We appreciate the efforts of law enforcement in this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900.”
Savannah’s fellow Today host Jenna Bush Hager also revealed that Nancy is likely “medicate-free” as she takes “every day” the medication she needs to “survive.”
“We are thinking of our beloved Savannah and her entire family right now. Our prayers obviously go out to Savannah,” Bush Hager said on Monday’s show.
Savannah, 54, and Nancy share a very close bond — especially since her NBC star father died when Savannah was 16 and Nancy was left a widow at 46.
The former lawyer once described his mother as his biggest supporter and shared the sacrifices Nancy made to achieve her dream career of becoming a broadcaster.
Savannah explained that when she took her first reporting job in Montana at age 21, she was hesitant to leave her mother.
“But once I moved to Butte, Montana, that was it,” Savannah said on the 2022 morning show. “And it was really hard to leave her.”
“That’s when she said, ‘If you can’t leave me, I wasn’t doing my job right, Savannah,'” she recalled. “She just gave me permission to go, you know?”
