Heather Graham says she was labeled as a “nerdy” teenager before Hollywood came calling.
The actress recalled being undervalued in high school before landing the role of a popular cheerleader on License to Drive, which she described as a “big moment” that launched her independence and career.
“I was a nerd. … You know, I was smart, but no one thought I was that beautiful,” Graham recalled during an episode of “Dinners on Me with Jesse Tyler Ferguson.”
“So I got this job as a popular, cute cheerleader, but my style and hair and makeup were terrible. I didn’t know how to do it or how to do it. And everyone was like, ‘What?’
“[The film]came out just as I was graduating,” Graham added. “And I think people thought, ‘Well, maybe I should have paid attention to her.'”
Graham revealed that winning the iconic role of Mercedes Lane in License to Drive was a “huge moment” for the 17-year-old.
“That was a huge deal for me. It was a huge moment,” she explained. “I had to make money. I became independent. I had a bank account and I could survive on my own.”
Graham began his career with bit parts in commercials and television, then appeared in teen films such as “Drugstore Cowboy” and “Swingers.”
She broke out in “Boogie Nights,” “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me,” and “Bowfinger.”
Graham landed a role in the blockbuster movie The Hangover in 2009. Since then, she has branched out into writing and directing projects while continuing to act in film and television.
Her latest film, They Will Kill You, will be released in theaters on March 27th.
The 56-year-old actress shared some of her beauty secrets in a recent interview with Us Weekly.
Graham insisted that he had “never had any actual surgery that involved cutting into his face.” But she said she had tried a series of other methods, including “microneedling, Botox, and laser treatments.”
“Some laser treatments can be like torture,” she says. “It felt like I had an hour and a half of shock in my face.”
The movie star’s goal is to avoid invasive plastic surgery because she “doesn’t want to look weird,” and “the goal is to look natural.”
“I feel like some people get plastic surgery and end up looking like this. I mean, some people get plastic surgery, and that’s a good thing. But I don’t want to be one of those people who gets plastic surgery and looks weird,” she said. “But when I get older, I can’t completely rule out that possibility. No one knows the future.”
Graham tries to maintain a balanced diet and get 10 to 11 hours of sleep. She uses yoga as a way to stay fit and manage stress, which she describes as “very cathartic.”
