The rapidly expanding series festival, scheduled to be rolled out in Barcelona from November 3rd to 12th, and the series festival, which will be rolled out on streaming platform films from November 10th to 23rd, has heightened the international interests of the 12th edition, as seen in the international competition announced this Tuesday.

BAFTA Award-winning showrunner Sally Wainwright (“Happy Valley”, “Jack of Gentlemen”) is one of the six international series, one of the “Riot Women”, which will host a master class and, together with two episodes of sneak peek, will perform Spanish premieres at the festival.

Produced by Wainwright, Riot Women, a comedy drama that empowers women who create, write and executives, turns on five menopause women who form punk rock bands. The UK series will be released on the BBC in October and will be released at a later date at Britbox in the US and Canada. Media One’s rights handle the sale.

“The Riot Women” is wild, very original and entertaining. Betu Morello and Victor Sara, co-founders of Serie Lizados, highlighted that last year’s best script and Young Jue Award went to another British series, “True Love,” about a group of resources friends from the 77s, and I’m sure it will have a big impact on the audience.

Another heartwarming show featured in Barcelona is a Canadian drama about mental health “empathy,” which won the Series Mania Audience Award. Created by Florence Longpre, Queen of Canadian Dramedy, the show starring in Canada’s Streammark Rave, Canal+, is played in Canada’s Bell’s Canal. In line with his strong tastes on Nordic drama, “Forbrydelsen and Borgen” are our references in Spain.

In a strong year of Icelandic scripted content, drummer “Danish Woman” plays a retired secret agent who can’t help intervene in neighbour’s issues, drummer “Danish Woman” will appear at the festival by Danish actress and Icelandic writer-director Benedict Ellingsson. The Rúv/Arte France show, which was handled globally by party movie sales, was first exhibited at the International Panorama of Series Enthusiasts.

The “Reykjavik Fusion” of crime and refined cuisine is tagged as “Breaking Bad” meets “Bears”, but it lands directly at Celilizados from the world premiere of the Cancerises. Star actor Ólafur Darri Ólafsson who plays the charismatic chef and ex-convict trying to rebuild his life and reputation, will attend the Spanish event, next to co-writers and producers Jónas Margeir Ingólfsson and Hörður Rúnarsson of Act4. Síminn-Arte France, sold by Mediapro Studio Worldwide, will bow at AMC+ in Spain.

The third Scandinavian series, “A Life’s Worth,” backed by Arte France, will be featured on Celilizados by hot writer Mona Masri (“Snabba Cash”, “Copenhagen Cowboy”). The fascinating drama about a group of Swedish soldiers struggling with the complexities of war on the Balkans in the 1990s was previously shown in the Avan Premier series at the Series Mania and Sarajevo Festival. Viaplay content distribution handles sales.

Finishing the selection is Norwegian Triple Cancer winner “A Better Man” Anders Baasmo starring as a female online troll, forcing him to face his own biases. The limited series, co-produced by NRK and Zdfneo, was sold by Beta Film to the Spanish luxury streaming service Filmin.

“As always, we present the best shows from all over the world. No matter what genre and visionary work, we pay particular attention to storytelling,” Molero and Sala said.

The ju-search for international competition includes Javier Giner, creator of Disney+ hit “I, Addict.” This is portrayed as “Akel” by actress Iria del Río from the best Spanish series in Serielizados 2024, the zombie thriller “Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End” from Prime Video, and screenwriter Paloma Rando, as “Akel”, depicted as “Aaquel”. As the favourite promotion window for the most anticipated local series, Serie Lizados will be exhibited on September 25th at the Barcelona Movie Alibaucinema. According to the loglines of Sales Agent Beta Film, it may be rediscovered.
