On Thursday, Barack Obama shared a family photo with his wife, Michelle Obama, and their two daughters, Sasha and Malia. It was a rare family group photo posted by the former US president in commemoration of the Thanksgiving holiday.
In the caption, Barack wrote, “In this season of giving, let’s do what we can to give back to the communities that have given so much to us. From our family to yours, have a wonderful Thanksgiving!”

In an April interview with Kelly Ripa, “Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa,” Michelle talked about trying to survive in the spotlight and protecting girls from the public eye.
“It was a lot of work,” she said. “And as they got older, it got even harder.”
They weren’t even teenagers when Barack took office, but as they grow up, they have to act like teenagers everywhere. Michelle explained how they “had to drive, they had to go to prom, they had to be on teams, they had to travel to other schools, they had to look for colleges, they went to parties, they drank, they tried smoking, they did it all.”
“Every weekend was a nightmare,” she added. “Because we had to work hard to make sure they didn’t end up on Page Six as normal teenagers.”
Now that I’m an adult, this has changed, but my parents still try to make me feel like this is normal.
“Number one, because I don’t want them to start thinking that they’re so full of themselves that this is all their problem and that it’s their job to live their own lives,” she explained. “This world is not yours. This is your father’s business.”
