Banijay America’s A Fábrica Mexico & US Hispanic has named director and screenwriter Max Zunino to the newly created position of Executive Director of Development.
Zunino will work closely with Santiago Zapata, senior vice president of content, who joined the startup last August.
Zapata said: “Max’s exceptional narrative sensibility, combined with his dual perspective as both director and writer, is exactly the kind of creative force we are looking for. In addition to directing HBO Max’s series “Colisión” and ViX’s “The Dentist” (“El Dentista”) produced by Fabula, Zunino’s screenwriting credits include Hari Sama’s acclaimed coming-of-age punk rock/new wave feature film “This Is Not Berlin,” Netflix’s political drama series “Tijuana” and Prime Video’s dark comedy series “Freddy.” Larios. ”

Born in Uruguay and based in Mexico, Zunino has won numerous awards and honors in both television and film. His debut feature film, Open Cages (Los Banistas), which he wrote, directed and produced, won the coveted Fiplessis Award at Montreal’s Festival de Nouveau Cinema. Guadalajara International Airport also received the Guerrero Press Award. Honorable awards such as film festivals.
His second feature film, The Mist (Bruma), which he also wrote, directed and produced, was filmed in Berlin and Mexico City and was screened in the Vision section of the 2017 Berlinale EFM. It had its world premiere at the 2017 Raindance Film Festival.
Zunino is the founder of Room Service, which produces a wide range of fiction content for Amazon, Netflix, Story House, Sony, Fox, Argos, Televisa, and more.
He is a founding member and member of the Board of Directors of Tinta, the Mexican Audiovisual Filmmakers Association.
Founded in January 2025 by Endemol Shine Boomdog and Brazil’s A Fabrica, A Fabrica Mexico & US Hispanic led by Luis Noronha, the company has a number of projects underway, including a partnership with Leonardo Padrón announced last year.
