BAFTA North America has postponed the inaugural BAFTA Honors, scheduled for next fall.
As first reported by Variety in August, BAFTA North America’s new awards, which will have one winner in each category in the television, film and video game industries, were originally scheduled for Sunday, November 2, but plans to postpone them by a year were confirmed this week.
“BAFTA North America is postponing the inaugural BAFTA Honors to fall 2026,” BAFTA North America said in a statement to Variety. “Further details including dates, locations and winners will be announced in the coming months. We look forward to bringing BAFTA winners to Los Angeles next year and presenting BAFTA’s iconic masks to three of the biggest names in film, TV and gaming.”
At the time of publication, specific details regarding the primary reason for the postponement of the first awards were not disclosed, but BAFTA North America’s ongoing mission to grow in the United States and the organization’s commitment to valuing the gaming industry on the same level as the film and television communities was not disclosed.
Recently, BAFTA North America has expanded its engagement with the gaming community, including appearances at Games for Change in New York and Unreal Fest in Orlando, as well as the creation of a new BAFTA Games North America Committee.
