The Kansas City Chiefs are dealing with another injury at quarterback, one week after Patrick Mahomes suffered a season-ending torn ACL.
Gardner Minshew, Mahomes’ backup, injured his left knee on the third play of Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans, reportedly suffering a torn ACL.
ESPN reports that Minshew, 29, went down with an apparent non-contact injury. The signal-caller tried to continue playing after limping off the field, but the Chiefs had to call in emergency QB Chris Oladokun.
The Chiefs lost 26-9, ending the season with a losing record for the first time in Andy Reid’s 12 years at the helm.
Minshew will undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the extent of his injury, the team announced.

Earlier this week, the Mississippi State native revealed he was excited about the opportunity to lead the Chiefs’ offense and has been texting Mahomes, 30.
“He was great,” Minshew said. “As soon as he started figuring everything out, he sent an email to the QB room. He’s been very positive and trying to get the guys motivated and trying to get everyone ready to go.”
Minshew also praised Mahomes’ leadership.
“That guy still wants us to win,” Minshew said. “That’s what he cares about and it’s great that we have a leader like that.”
Oladokun, who played only a short time in last January’s blowout loss to the Broncos, told reporters after the game that he was ready to play.
“When you’ve been here for four years, you’re always going through the motions of when the first moment is going to come, when the opportunity is going to come,” the 28-year-old Oladokun said after the game. “For the last four years, I’ve been really attacking…you never know when your number is going to be called.”
