Britney Spears’ former backup dancer Teresa Espinosa has spoken out after Kevin Federline cheated on her.
In an excerpt from her upcoming memoir, You Thought You Knew, Federline, who was married to Spears from September 2004 to July 2007, claims the Princess of Pop cheated on her with Espinosa in 2004.
Espinosa, who “had the incredible honor of dancing for and with Spears” during her “In the Zone” days when she launched her Onyx Hotel tour, defended her on Instagram Thursday.
“At that time (2003-2004), just being around Britney, you could feel the chaotic energy that was her life,” Espinosa recalled.
“Everywhere she went, the paparazzi were in full effect. She couldn’t breathe or sneeze without someone trying to capture a moment of her beautiful soul.”
Espinosa admitted that she “didn’t have the words to explain” her experience with Spears, but could sense that she was “lost” and wanted to feel “normal” without “the world watching her every move.”
One night, Espinosa invited Spears to go with her and a friend to Joseph’s Cafe, “the club to go to back in the day.”
Espinosa recalled being “followed frantically by paparazzi all the way to the club” and described the drive as “dangerous and super crazy.”
Upon arriving, Espinosa met her “friend Kevin Federline,” who was also a backup dancer at the time. Espinosa and Federline “lived in the same four-family home,” but he “just happened to be there that night.”
“When I saw Kevin, I thought, ‘Kevin is cute. I have to introduce him,'” she thought. “I don’t know exactly how that innocent introduction became more than just a hang-up. That’s not my story to tell.”
Shortly after joining Spears and Espinosa on their Onyx Hotel tour, Federline and the singer went public with their relationship and married just a few months later.
“I am blessed to have shared the stage with her around the world. She allowed me to live my dream as a professional dancer and ultimately asked me to choreograph the music video for ‘Outrageous’, which was never fully completed because she hurt her knee on set,” Espinosa told her followers.
She concluded her message with this: “And this is my take: You never know what it’s like to walk second in her shoes.”
Federline, 47, confessed that he witnessed Spears, 43, and Espinosa “totally flirting” and “doing it” in an Amsterdam hotel room during the tour.
The Grammy winner, who shares sons Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, with Federline, has yet to specifically address the cheating allegations, but took to Instagram to slam Federline for “gaslighting” her, telling her “blank lies” and “hurting” her.
Her rep echoed these sentiments in a statement to Page Six, saying, “With the news of Kevin’s book being published, once again Kevin and others are profiting off of her. Sadly, this comes after her child support relationship with Kevin was terminated.”
Spears’ rep said: “All she cares about is her children and their well-being in this sensational endeavor.”
