What you need to know
Charity Lawson has teased new details about her upcoming wedding with fiancé Dotun Olubeko.
The couple, who met, fell in love and got engaged during season 20 of The Bachelorette, kept most of their wedding plans private. In a new interview with It Girl published on Friday, January 9, Lawson, 30, opened up about her future wedding, revealing that many familiar faces will be in attendance and that there will be a “cultural element.”
“Dotun is Nigerian, so we’re incorporating cultural elements into the ceremony,” Lawson said, adding that they also plan to incorporate traditional American elements. As for guests, she added, “There’s going to be a lot of people from Bachelor Nation.”

What wedding details do Bachelor alums not hint at to fans? The date.
“We have set[the wedding date]but the most important thing for me is to never make it public, so you will all know when the wedding details start coming out,” she said. “But I was like, ‘I don’t want to share that date with the public.'” Just, you know, people are crazy. It’s crazy, and not in a good way. ”
However, the bride-to-be hinted that the wedding will take place this year when discussing what she is most looking forward to in 2026.
“Obviously, I’m getting married,” she said. “It seems like a big one.”

Back in August 2023, shortly after The Bachelorette Season 20 finale aired and Lawson and Orbeco’s engagement was revealed, Lawson exclusively spoke to PEOPLE about the couple’s original idea of having two weddings. The first will be a traditional Nigerian wedding that honors Olubeko’s heritage, and the second will be a standard American wedding.
Lawson said at the time, “I don’t mind having two weddings.” “We’ll see how it goes. But me and Dotun have been talking a lot about Nigerian weddings and we’ll see if ABC will film them!”
In March 2025, Lawson told PEOPLE that she and Orbeco were planning their wedding “day by day” and wanted to take their time to get the details right.
“We’re not in too much of a hurry because the last few months have been so much time for us to figure out the logistics,” the Bachelor Nation star said. “So we’re just going through each day. We want it to be very meaningful. I think that’s really important, especially with the way we met.”
She added, “It takes a lot of time and effort to plan these things. Yeah, we want to do it right.”
