The world of Avatar: The Last Airbender is expanding with a new fighting video game and animated YouTube series, it was announced at New York Comic Con on Sunday.
The popular Nickelodeon animated series celebrated its 20th anniversary at New York Comic-Con with a panel discussion featuring original cast members Zack Tyler Eisen (Aang), Jacques De Sena (Socca), Michaela Jill Murphy (Toph), Dante Basco (Zuko), May Whitman (Katara), co-creator Brian Konietzko, and moderator Janet Varney. At the panel, a one-on-one fighting video game was unveiled under the working title “Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game.” The character lineup includes Aang, Katara, Sokka, Zuko, Azula, Toph, and Korra, all hand-drawn with 2D animation. In battle, Aang is also shown using airbending while also entering the Avatar state for some powerful moves. Zuko is firebending and wears a Blue Spirit mask and sword. Korra uses all four elements and also uses the avatar state. And more elemental battles. It is scheduled to be released on consoles in the summer of 2026.
A series of chibi-style 2D animated short videos will also debut and be available for viewing on YouTube. The short stories reimagine classic scenes from the original Avatar series and comics to deliver original stories. One of the videos cutely parodies the premiere episode where Kataru and Sokka discover Aang and fight Zuko and the Fire Nation.
The next installment in the “Avatar” universe is a sequel series titled “Avatar: Seven Heavens,” which follows Avatar after Korra. There’s also a feature film, The Legend of Anne: The Last Airbender, set to hit theaters on October 9, 2026.
