The energy around Sharjah International Airport this year, a film festival for children and youth, points to a larger story unfolding across the emirate of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates: the emergence of a creative economy with real infrastructure behind it. Sharjah’s creative reputation is built on books, art and education, and its long-standing commitment to culture earned it the…

In this drama, she plays a talented and very stylish divorce lawyer. Crafted from nude satin layered with sheer black tulle, the look featured a dramatic draped skirt, corseted waist,…

In a session titled “Claynosaurz: The Rise of the Interactive Franchise: Why the Future Belongs to the Creator,” Claynosaurz co-founder and creative director Nick Cabana spoke to a packed View Conference Room in Turin about something many studios are wondering about but struggling to put into practice. Audience behavior has outpaced linear release cycles, and the next series should consider building across platforms and into the public sphere, with fans in the tent from day one. “Entertainment is non-linear,” Kavanagh said, adding that for creators, “distribution is free.” His thesis is that when we design the way people already move…

If there was one scene that perfectly captured this year’s BFI London Film Festival and its growing importance on the awards calendar, it was around midday on the festival’s first Sunday at Soho House’s glitzy hangout 180 The Strand. In a chaotic room overflowing with guests and elbow room at all costs, Jacob Elordi, Oscar Isaac, Mia Goth, Colin Farrell, Rian Johnson, Joel Edgerton, Felicity Jones and Kelly Condon greet each other politely and trays of canapés move among the bodies with expert precision. Meanwhile, away from the hustle and bustle and toward the slightly less crowded outdoor pool area,…
British media regulator Ofcom has found that the BBC documentary Gaza: How to Survive a War Zone breached broadcasting rules by “seriously misleading” viewers, ending a months-long investigation that began after the controversial program was removed from BBC iPlayer in February.
