Amazon MGM Studios has announced that it will produce a trilogy of film adaptations of romance author Anna Huang’s best-selling sports series “Gods of the Game.”
The book series follows a series of interconnected, steamy romances in the powerful world of English Premier League football. Amazon has acquired the rights to develop three films based on two previously released books, “The Striker” and “The Defender,” and a third book, “The Keeper,” which is scheduled to debut in October.
The “Gods of the Game” film will be produced by Liz Pelletier and Sheryl Clark of Premeditated Productions for Amazon MGM Studios under the company’s first-look film and television deal, with Premeditated currently adapting “The Fourth Wing,” “Dragon Cursed,” and “Set for the Villain.”
Jackie Levine and Rachel Ghiazza will produce the “Gods of the Game” film for Audible. Audible distributes audiobook versions of the Gods of the Game book series through its Audiobook Creation Exchange (ACX) platform, an indie marketplace platform. Huang and Audible’s Marshall Lewy will serve as executive producers. Premeditated’s Cayla Tyne will oversee development of the project.
Best known for her romance novel series Twisted Love, which is currently being adapted into a TV drama on Netflix, Huang has published 15 books in four series and has sold more than 27 million copies worldwide. Mr. Huang plans to publish two more books this year. First, the sixth book in the “Kings of Sin” series, “King of Gluttony,” will be published on April 28th, followed by the third book in the “Gods of the Game” series, “The Keeper,” on October 10th.
Mr. Huang is represented by IAG, Kimberly Brower at Park, Fine & Brower Literary Management, Jill Frizzo Public Relations, and Granderson De Rocher LLP.
