Aubrey Plaza is ready to step into her new role as a mother.
The “Parks and Recreation” alum, who is expecting her first child with boyfriend Christopher Abbott, broke the pregnancy news to Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett on an upcoming episode of her podcast “Smartless.”
“Yes, there’s a baby inside me,” she told the men, who all reacted in disbelief. “No, I just said there’s a baby inside me.”
After telling Plaza that the actors were very “excited” for her, the 41-year-old revealed that she went to the doctor that day to get an ultrasound.
“Today was a big day. I went to the doctor today, and my dog went to the doctor too. And we both, my dog is getting a scan right now. I got a scan earlier. I’m not kidding,” she shared.
“She had to have a belly ultrasound, and I had a belly ultrasound, and there’s a baby in there,” Plaza reiterated.
When asked if she was “excited” to become a first-time mother, the actress replied, “I’m excited. Yeah. I’ve always wanted it, I’ve always wanted it, I’ve always wanted to see what it’s like, you know?”
“It all seems very interesting,” she added.
News broke last week that Plaza is pregnant and expecting her first child with Abbott. More than a year has passed since her husband Jeff Baena died by suicide in January 2025.
“After an emotional year, this was a wonderful surprise,” a source told People. “They feel very blessed.”
It’s unclear when Plaza and Abbott started dating, but the two have co-starred together numerous times, including in the 2020 film “Black Bear” and in the 2023-2024 Off-Broadway revival of “Danny and the Deep Blue Sea.”
The “White Lotus” actress hid her belly when she attended Paris Fashion Week last month, but she bared it while walking her dog in New York City last Wednesday.
Plaza was dressed casually for the outing, wearing a blue coat, burgundy shirt, gray sweatpants, sneakers and black sunglasses.
