Ashley Heseltine, stand-up comic and co-host of the podcast Girls Gotta Eat, has announced her debut comedy special, Here Comes the Bride.
The marriage-themed hour will stream live on YouTube on April 30th at 8pm ET, followed by Amazon Prime Video in the US on May 1st.
Hesseltine filmed the special at City Winery at Pier 57 in New York City, making it the first comedy special ever to be shown at that venue. This comes at the end of her Sex Before Marriage Tour, which spanned 43 dates in 19 cities.
Mr. Hesseltine recorded the hour two weeks before the wedding, bringing a sense of urgency to the film, which tracks the story from the chaos of dating to the high-stakes step of marriage. According to a press release, “The result is a special that balances raunchy, high-energy comedy with moments of true vulnerability. It’s as much a personal story as it is a stand-up set.” The special will also incorporate actual footage of Hesseltine’s wedding.
“I’m so excited to finally be able to say ‘I do’ to releasing this special,” Hesseltine said in a statement. “It’s a comedy, of course, but it’s also a love story that spans the last three years of my life, from ‘Where the hell is my husband?'” “We’re getting married this month.” This was a difficult turn, but one I loved accepting, as I’ve spent years in stand-up talking about the horrors of dating, crazy sex stories, and being single. ”
Since 2018, Hesseltine has co-hosted the raunchy comedy podcast Girls Gotta Eat with Rayna Greenberg. The show covers dating, sex, and relationships, and the duo is taking the podcast on a national tour. Hesseltine is also an early digital blogger and creator, starting the Instagram accounts @BrosBeingBasic and @FashionDads.
“Here Comes the Bride” is produced by Don’t Tell Comedy and executive produced by WME’s Andrew Russell. Hesseltine is represented by WME, Russell is responsible for comedy and touring, and Ben Davis represents her podcast and audio business.
