Ashley Greene found a special way to preserve memories of her young daughter.
While chatting exclusively with PEOPLE at the Clarins x V Magazine primetime event during F1 Weekend in Austin, Texas on Oct. 18, the Twilight star, 38, revealed that she was sending the letter to the email address she created for her daughter Kingsley Lane, 3.
“What happens these days is that everyone who meets you says you have the best personality, and I love that because I was a very shy kid,” Green says.
She went on to share some of her daughter’s unique personality traits.
“She’s really her own person and I think she inherited a lot from her father,” the actress said of her husband, entrepreneur Paul Cooley, whom she married in 2018. “But she’s so funny. And she 1000% knows what she wants and how to get it. And I think that’s a really beautiful thing…If she can continue to capitalize on that and continue to be kind, I think she’s set up for success.”

Green also revealed her 3-year-old’s Halloween plans.
“This will give you some insight about my child. She wants to be Gargamel. I thought, ‘Okay, cool, Smurf. What do you want to be? Do you want to be Smurfette?'” And she said, “No, I want to be Gargamel.” So I had to have a costume made for her,” Green tells PEOPLE.
The Some Other Woman star said she and Cooley’s “old traditions are gone” as the couple embraces new holiday traditions with Kingsley. That includes starting your Christmas cheer early.
“This is the first year she’s really gotten into the holidays, so she’s really excited about Halloween and Christmas. Our tradition now is that I sing her ‘The Red-Nosed Reindeer’ every night,” Green said. “She loves it. Literally in the middle of summer, it’s Rudolph.”

Green often shares glimpses of her family life on social media. Last month, she posted a series of photos from Kingsley’s Super Mario Bros. themed third birthday party. The festivities included outdoor games, cake, and appearances by the characters Mario and Luigi.
“Our baby girl is a threerex!! A beautiful celebration for a beautiful little soul ❤️,” Green captioned the Instagram post.
During the summer, my family took a trip to Amsterdam. Ms. Green shared some of the highlights of her experience in the Dutch city, including taking a scenic boat ride through the canals.

“Amsterdam holds a special place in my heart. We took a boat tour from the hotel @pulitzer.amsterdam (which I’m obsessed with) and it was magical 💫 It was perfect,” Green wrote alongside a black-and-white photo of the trio cuddling on a boat, with Kingsley wrapped in a blanket to keep warm from the cold.
In another post, Green shared photos of herself, Cooley and Kingsley exploring tourist attractions, sampling local cuisine and having a small tea party. She said she was “already planning to go back” to Amsterdam after such a memorable family trip.
