Grande kicked off her Wicked: For Good press tour with a new hair color. The star shocked fans with her brunette hairstyle, showing off her dark hair color for the first time in three years.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the Oscar nominee revealed the meaning behind his transformation.
“It’s fun to do the storytelling on a press tour,” she said, explaining how she approached her promotional attire this time compared to last time.
“For the first[Wicked]press tour, we wanted to celebrate Glinda in a more thoughtful way and be an extension of her and extend our time with her through the clothes and the blonde and everything,” Grande explained.
“Now I can come out as the actress who played her and play with the dark tones of the movie. It’s fun to play with hair, makeup and fashion,” she added.

Grande teamed up with image architect and Project Runway judge Law Roach for her second Wicked Press Tour. In October, Roach told PEOPLE that she spent “many hours” doing fittings, dating back to 2016 and deepening their friendship.
“What people need to know about her is her gratitude and gratitude for getting to play this role. At the same time, she’s so excited and grateful to the designers who made these gowns and dresses for her,” he said.

The late designer is known for his work on The Wizard of Oz (1939) and for enhancing the world of Oz with Dorothy’s ruby slippers and Glinda’s bubble dress. Grande told British Vogue that the gown was sourced from L.A.’s Lily et C, which sells 20th and 21st century gowns.

Grande talked about how special it was to not only have this piece, but to wear it during the press tour. “It’s so emotional and meaningful to have it join our personal vintage collection and wear something he made on this carpet,” she said.
“Law and I cried many times during this fitting,” Grande continued.
She also said that despite wearing a lot of Glinda-inspired pink outfits on the Wicked: Part 1 press tour, she’s trying to channel Glinda’s darker side this time around.
Grande added that the look is “more mature (and) more emotional. It still feels like an extension of Glinda’s story. We’re just telling a different part of her story.”
