Johnson Wen, the Australian influencer who grabbed Ariana Grande at the Singapore premiere of Wicked: For Good, has been jailed for his actions.
Wen reportedly pleaded guilty to one charge of public nuisance on Monday and was sentenced to nine days in jail, according to the Daily Mail.
Singapore District Judge Christopher Goh said Mr Wen, who disrupted events for other celebrities, said his “actions were premeditated” and “displayed a pattern of behavior suggesting he would do it again”.
“It seems like you are desperate for attention and when you do these things it seems like you are only thinking about yourself and not the safety of others,” Go told the 26-year-old social media star.
The judge then told Wen that he was “wrong” to think his actions would have no consequences.
“You should always remember that your actions always have consequences,” Goh said, according to the media.
After the sentencing, Wen told the judge, “I will never do it again,” and “I will stop getting into trouble.”
Mr Goh said the court “needs to send a signal to like-minded people that it will not tolerate any conduct that could damage Singapore’s reputation as a safe country”.
Last week, Wen jumped a barricade and rushed Grande, 32, as she walked the yellow carpet with her co-stars at the Asian premiere of Wicked: For Good.
The man then put his arm around a shocked Grande and jumped up and down to wave to the crowd.
The “Side to Side” songstress’ co-star Cynthia Erivo then rushed to Grande’s defense, jumping between her and Wen and shoving him.
Wen was then arrested by security and taken back behind the barricade.
Erivo, 38, and several other “Wicked” actors then began comforting Grande, who appeared shaken by the assault.
The next day, Grande did not mention the incident and simply thanked her Singaporean fans for showing her and her castmates so much love during the premiere.
“Thank you, Singapore,” the “Thank U, Next” singer captioned the merry-go-round premiere photo. “we love you.”
Mr. Wen has had several unfair conflicts with celebrities.
He previously made headlines when he lunged at The Weeknd and The Chainsmokers during a concert, and when he ran onto the field at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup final.
And in June, Wen also stormed a Katy Perry concert in Sydney, running on stage with the pop star and putting his arm around her shoulders before being escorted out by security.
