Apple TV removes MLS paywall and streams all games at no additional charge

Apple TV’s soccer paywall is coming down.

A revised 10-year agreement between Apple and Major League Soccer in 2022 will allow all MLS games to be streamed at no additional cost to Apple TV subscribers starting in 2026.

Starting next season, fans around the world will be able to watch every regular season game, the annual League Cup tournament, the MLS All-Star Game, Michelob Ultra Campeones Cup, Audi MLS Cup Playoffs and more. That includes an Apple TV subscription, which currently costs $12.99 per month in the U.S. (originally launched as Apple TV+, but the company removed the “+” sign and rebranded it).

Apple, which first began streaming the league’s games in 2023, charged an extra fee for full access to soccer matches through its MLS Season Pass for the first three seasons, with the most recent price being $14.99 per month or $99 per season. Standalone MLS Season Pass subscriptions on the Apple TV app will end at the end of the 2025 season. Additionally, as part of the revised agreement, season ticket members of MLS clubs will receive a full Apple TV subscription (one per paid season ticket account) as part of their full season ticket membership in 2026.

Apple TV gives all subscribers blackout-free access to MLS games, as well as studio programming and on-demand content in more than 100 countries and territories. For Apple, the changes are aimed at increasing the value of Apple TV subscriptions, along with the service’s original series, movies and documentaries, as well as MLB’s “Friday Night Baseball” games and F1 races in the U.S. starting next year under a five-year contract estimated to be worth $750 million.

“Our partnership with Apple has always been about innovation for our fans,” MLS Commissioner Don Garber said in a statement. “Bringing every MLS match to Apple TV takes that vision to the next level by making it easier than ever for fans around the world to watch, connect and engage in action.”

“We’re excited to bring MLS to more fans around the world next season on Apple TV,” said Eddie Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of services, in a statement. “Watch all the games in one place, along with great Apple Originals. This is a win for fans around the world.”

Starting this season, Sunday Night Soccer games are now available to all customers on Apple TV, even if they don’t have an MLS Season Pass.

In 2025, more than 200 games were simulcast on both MLS Season Pass and Apple TV. “Sunday Night Soccer” matches on Apple TV (and MLS Season Pass) drew significantly more viewers than the average MLS match. According to the league, this was a clear sign that Apple TV was driving engagement.
