Apple Martin has reflected on growing up with two famous parents: Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.
A month after sharing the spotlight with mother Gwyneth Paltrow, 53, in Zac Posen’s GapStudio campaign for Fall/Winter 2025, the budding model, 21, told The Telegraph:
“I know this is by no means a normal way to grow up,” Martin said in an interview published Tuesday, Oct. 14. Paltrow and Martin also have a 19-year-old son, Moses.

“But my parents were really good at instilling in me that I shouldn’t have any rights,” Martin continued. “I have to work.”
Martin spoke to the outlet to promote her partnership with London-based fashion house Self-Portrait, marking the first time she will be the sole face of the brand.

Despite her career in the fashion industry, including her Paris Fashion Week debut at Chanel’s haute couture show in January 2023, Martin says she remains unfazed by the life she leads.
She balances professional opportunities with studying law, history, and social studies at Vanderbilt University.
Martin told the Telegraph he was staying grounded by “hanging out with friends” and trying to have a “normal university life”.
“I like to relax that way,” she said. “We sit down and have a little guitar playing session. One person plays and the other sings. I also love watching reality TV with my friends. There were days when we would spend five hours on the couch and just watch old episodes of America’s Next Top Model.”

Her parents may be divorced now, but Paltrow and Martin have always maintained that Apple and her siblings are their family’s priority.
In a November 2023 interview with PEOPLE, Paltrow said she and her ex-husband have always been on the same page when it comes to parenting.

“I always say that it’s one thing to say you want to put your kids first, but it’s another thing to actually put your kids first,” Paltrow said. “I think we all want to put our children first, but sometimes it’s hard to do that when you’re making sacrifices or when you’re feeling angry and hurt.”
