Apple Martin joins the beauty chat.
The 21-year-old model and daughter of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin was featured in a double-page spread in Vogue’s March issue, where she took part in the magazine’s Beauty Secrets, sharing her makeup routine, opening up about her battle with acne and revealing one of the cosmetic procedures she’s had.
“It’s time for a confession. I had lip fillers once. I think I had them when I was 18. I just thought they were too big,” she said. “People think I have crazy lip fillers. I often just pout my lips and put on lip liner.”
After adding plumping lip gloss, she joked, “You can see my lips are already fuller. It’s not lip filler, thank you.” She also demonstrated the “lip filler illusion” by placing the lip liner “right above” her lips. “Once you get the natural shape of your lips, you just raise it just a little bit above it,” she explained.
Of course, having Goop’s Paltrow as a mom, Martin has the world of wellness experts at her fingertips, admitting, “My mom has definitely given me advice. And God bless her, she’s probably going to ask all her super Goop pals where I should go.”
Martin joked that her daily routine was “a stressed-out college student’s skin care,” and talked about her acne while looking in the mirror without makeup.
“I know I still have some spots and stuff, but it was really bad in high school,” she explained, adding: “I mean…my acne wasn’t crazy bad, but it definitely affected my self-esteem.”
Martin’s routine helps her to even out her skin and hide scars and blemishes, but she’s candid about her current healthy relationship with her skin.
“Now I’m like, ‘I’m human too…what should I do? If I get acne, it’s not the end of my life,'” she added.
“The more stressed you are about it, the worse it’s likely to get,” she said, laughing and putting her hand over her forehead, adding, “This is all stress.”
Starting with the Goop Cleanser ($38) and 47 Skin Scar Repair Serum ($45), she highlights Typology as a brand that keeps skin acne-free, specifically its tinted serum ($48) and tinted concealer ($37).
She cites not only her famous mother, but also her celebrity grandmother, Blythe Danner, as two of her ultimate icons. “Very beautiful women.”
Martin also paid tribute to Paltrow with her fashion spread.
In one image, she wears a pink satin shirt and pants set, and we can’t help but think of Paltrow’s iconic Ralph Lauren dress worn at the 1999 Academy Awards.
Also, coincidentally, it was the exact Calvin Klein look her mother wore when she appeared on Good Morning America in December.
In other photos, she wears everything from Jil Sander skinny pants to a skirted Alaia look.
“My mom’s 20s wardrobe is my favorite thing in the whole world,” she says fondly, adding that she spent her winter holidays at home and “tried on everything.”
“I get emotional thinking about what’s in my closet,” she added, referring to the YSL bootcut pants she snagged to take back to college. “It’s such a boss baby…makes you want to work.”
This is Martin’s first time appearing in a Vogue fashion magazine, although she appeared in the magazine during Le Bal des Débutantes in 2024.
As the current face of British brand Self Portrait, and alongside Paltrow in this fall’s Gap Studios campaign, this is just the beginning for Apple Martin, who has ambitions to pursue both acting and singing.
