Anwar Hadid has mourned the death of his beloved dog Dexter, opening up about how the six-year-old dachshund changed his life.
On Saturday, January 31st, the 26-year-old model posted a heartfelt tribute on social media, announcing Dexter’s passing. Alongside three photos of her black dachshund, Hadid reflected on their bond and the role the pup played in one of the darkest times of her life.

In the caption, Hadid wrote, “Today, all over the world, my best friend passed away.” He went on to reveal that Dexter came into his life at a time of deep suffering, adding, “You came into my life when every day I wanted to end it. And today you left me… I’m more ready than ever to live this beautiful life.”
Hadid called Dexter “my little boy” and “Sour Patch Kid” and wrote that the dog would be with her “for life.” The post quickly received an outpouring of love from friends, fans and members of the Hadid family.
Sister Gigi Hadid, 30, shared a message of support in the comments, writing: “He was so special, so loved and so lucky to have found his soulmate in your brother 🙂 Some of the best people come too soon.” Dexter’s father, Mohamed Hadid, 77, also paid tribute, noting that Dexter had lived with Anwar for two years. “We have loved this beautiful creature,” he wrote. “He has the most beautiful face and eyes. We will miss him.”

Bella Hadid, 29, also commented on Anwar’s post and honored Dexter with her own eulogy the following day. On February 1, the model shared a 17-slide merry-go-round of photos and videos of Dexter and her dog Beans, along with a poem dedicated to her late pup.
“A poem from our aunt to Lord Hoyn Dextern III,” Bella began, describing Dexter as “small in size but big and old in spirit,” with a “baby face” and “eyes that showed he had been to this earth many times.”

In her poem, Vera reflects on the lessons Dexter taught her family, writing that Dexter taught her “how to love harder, to sleep deeper, and to protect my people more seriously.” She described Dexter as Yolanda Hadid’s constant companion and “half of Anwar’s heart” and called him “the loudest love in the room.”

“You’re a human inside a dog. You’re part of a forever family,” Bella concluded. “Run free, sweet Dexter. We love you so much.”
