A new “Ghost in the Shell” anime and Gianna June-led paranormal romance headline Prime Video’s 2026 Asian content lineup, announced Thursday at the streamer’s inaugural International Originals Showcase in London.

Gaurav Gandhi, Vice President, APAC and ANZ, Prime Video, introduced a selection of titles from a wide range of releases from the Asia-Pacific region during the event, which also featured Korean dramas such as supernatural romance Human x Gumiho (tentative title) starring Jeon Ji-hyun (also known as Gianna Jun) and Ji Chang-wook, as well as an Indian original film from producer Alia Bhatt. Kelly Day, vice president of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios International, and Nicole Clemens, vice president of international originals, hosted the presentation, which was attended by actors Stanley Tucci, Nicole Wallace, Park Min-young, Wi Ha-joon, Dolores Fong-ji, Bat, and writer Mercedes Ron.

The streamer noted that content from Japan, South Korea, and India is gaining significant viewership globally, even outside of English-language programming. The titles previewed are a sample of the full 2026 lineup to be announced in the coming months.

Ghost in the Shell, the seminal cyberpunk series that explores the intersection of humanity and technology in the hyper-connected metropolis of 2029, will stream exclusively worldwide on Prime Video (excluding Russia and China; Prime Video has secured early exclusive slots in Japan). The groundbreaking series, which began with Masamune Shirow’s 1989 manga and expanded to include anime, live-action Hollywood movies, and video games, returns in July 2026 with a new animated series produced by Science SARU, the animation studio behind the Golden Globe-nominated Inuoh and the animated television series Dan Da Dan.

The Fist of the North Star reboot, produced by TMS Entertainment, celebrates the series’ 40th anniversary and reinterprets the internationally recognized manga series with a combination of cutting-edge computer-generated imagery and hand-drawn animation.

The showcase also included “From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman” Season 2, following the success of the first season, which ranked in Prime Video’s top 10 in over 45 territories.

Building on the success of “Marry My Husband” and “No Gain No Love,” which reached the platform’s global top 10 based on international viewership, Prime Video previewed six Korean titles developed in collaboration with major studios such as CJ ENM, SLL, and Coupang Play.

The Korean slate spans multiple genres. In addition to “Human x Gumibong,” other titles are planned, including “The Absolute Value of Romance,” a meta-romantic comedy starring Kim Hyang-ki and a world-renowned K-pop idol, and psychological thriller “Siren’s Kiss,” starring Park Min-young and Wi Ha-joon.

Additional titles include workplace romance “See You at Work Tomorrow!” “Love in Disguise” starring Im Siwan. And the historical epic “The Sacred Jewel” (tentative title), set during the Mongol invasion of Goryeo.

The event also included a preview of the new Indian original film “Don’t Be Shy,” which is being described as a young adult, female-positive youth drama. Written and directed by Sreethi Mukerji, the project is produced by Bollywood stars Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt under their Eternal Sunshine Productions banner.

Bhatt appeared in conversation with Prime Video India’s Head of Originals Nikhil Madhok, where she spoke about making films for young audiences and the importance of female-centered storytelling. Prime Video’s extensive Indian content will be announced at Prime Video Presents India in March.

“Content from Japan, South Korea and India is emerging as a powerful cultural force in global entertainment, driven by emotionally authentic stories that resonate far beyond their home markets,” Gandhi said. “Building on strong audience momentum and deep partnerships with creators in these regions, our 2026 lineup underscores our long-term commitment to championing Asian storytelling on the global stage.”
