Bronwyn Vance waltzed into the ballroom this weekend.
The 19-year-old daughter of actors Angela Bassett and Courtney B. Vance received the royal treatment Saturday at the special annual event held at the Shangri-La Paris Hotel, where she turned heads at Le Bal des Debutantes.
The Harvard sophomore wore a custom Stéphane Laurent haute couture dress with a dramatic white tulle skirt, sweetheart neckline with puffed off-the-shoulder sleeves for her big moment. Gold floral appliqués are included throughout the design.
Young Deb made the evening a family affair, bringing along her twin brother Slater as a cavalier, or male escort who accompanied each debutante.
“I thought it would be less pressure to have my brother and my natural best friend,” she told Hello! prior to the event.
Her parents, Bassett, 67, and Vance, 65, were also in attendance to watch their daughter’s presentation. The “Black Panther” actress wore a strapless silver Jenny Packham dress, while her “Grotescree” star husband looked dapper in a tuxedo for a traditional father-daughter waltz.
“I feel like a princess for one night,” Bronwyn told ELLE of the invite-only ball. “This is a beautiful ceremony that makes the girls feel special for one night. I wanted to be a part of something so beautiful and spectacular that they will probably never experience again.”
The Bassett-Vance family attended Stéphane Rolland’s haute couture show together in Paris in July.
Vance, who studied film and sociology at Harvard University, was one of about 20 debutantes at this year’s ball, joining a distinguished lineup that included fashion royalty and global aristocracy.
Carolina Lansing, 21, the granddaughter of legendary fashion designer Carolina Herrera, wore a black and white polka dot strapless dress designed by Wes Gordon. He became the brand’s creative director in 2018. The design paid homage to her grandmother’s first runway collection in 1981. Lansing’s younger brother, Magnus, served as her knight.
Mrs Araminta Spencer-Churchill, 18, daughter of Charles James Spencer-Churchill, Duke of Marlborough, dazzled in a strapless embellished taupe dress by Armani Prive.
The event, dubbed the “Nepo Baby Met Gala” by online commenters, has previously attracted celebrity offspring including Lily Collins, Margaret Qualley, Apple Martin, Ava Phillippe and Lori Harvey.
