Two-time WNBA All-Star Angel Reese has joined the cast of Season 2 of The Hunting Wives.
She will play a character known as Trainer Barbie, which Netflix describes as a “co-starring role.”
The drama series, starring Brittany Snow and Malin Akerman, has been a huge hit on Netflix since it aired in July 2025. The story follows Sophie (Snow), who moves from the East Coast to East Texas and joins the elite social circle of Margo (Ackerman), known as the “hunting wives” who hide dangerous secrets.
According to the season 2 logline, “Sophie and Margo are at odds, but soon old secrets and new enemies bring them back together. As they play a dangerous game, questions arise: Are they the hunter or the pursued?”
“The Hunting Wives” also stars Evan Jonigkeit, Katie Laws, George Ferrier, Dermot Mulroney, Jamie Ray Newman and Chrissy Metz. Rounding out the cast are Jamie Ray Newman, Dermot Mulroney, Evan Jonigkeit, George Ferrier, Karen Rodriguez, Hunter Emery, and Blanton Box. Reese joins previously announced Season 2 newcomers John Stamos, Kim Matula, Alex Fitzalan, Dale Dickey, and Cam Gigandet.
Reese’s character’s name, Trainer Barbie, appears to be a play on her basketball nicknames, Bayou Barbie and Chee Barbie. As a star player at LSU, she led her team to its first national championship and was named Most Valuable Player. In 2024, she was drafted by the Chicago Sky and is currently a two-time WNBA All-Star.
Season 2 of “The Hunting Wives” is currently in production. The series is created by Rebecca Cutter and is based on the bestselling novel by Mae Cobb. The show is produced by Lionsgate Television and 3 Arts Entertainment, and Netflix acquired the first season from Starz before its release.
