Today’s episode of the “Daily Variety” podcast features actor and singer Andra Day to talk about her participation in the “Night Out for No Kid Hungry” fundraiser scheduled for April 11th at Rolling Greens in downtown Los Angeles. It promises to offer unique collaborations with top culinary stars including Shirley Chan, Ludo Lefebvre, Michael Mina, Brooke Williamson and Alexander Hong.
Day also reports that new music will be released soon. “I haven’t decided yet whether it will be an EP series or a full album,” she says.
Given the urgency of the issue and the fact that many families face food insecurity, Day quickly said yes to appearing on No Kid Hungry Dinner. The work of No Kid Hungry and its parent nonprofit group, Share Our Strength, has become all the more important as the Trump administration has slashed social safety net programs.
“The most important thing is to make sure that children have food and that they can provide for themselves and their families right now,” Day said. “I know the event is going to be great, but I think everyone at the event, including the organizers, is most excited about the outcome.I became a fan of this organization after I signed on to perform for this performance. I love that they’re working to make sure that children have access to music. It’s a national initiative, a national organization. I love that they’re working in all areas of culture, society, and government to make sure that children have access to music and food. ”
Regarding his music plans, Day said, “I was finally able to get into the studio with the producers who have been friends for years and have been talking about working together.” She also just finished filming Season 3 of Disney+’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
“I’m actually a fan of the show even before I was cast as a character on the show, so I’m really excited for people to see it. I’m really excited,” Day said.
