There is “zero” chance that Amy Schumer and husband Chris Fischer will be able to repair their marriage, a source close to them tells Page Six.
“They’ve been having issues for years and my understanding is that all they’re doing now is making a conscious plan to uncouple,” the source claimed, referring to the divorce term popularized by Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin in their 2014 breakup statement.
Rumors of trouble between the slimmed-down comedian, 44, and her chef husband, 45, first arose in 2023 when Schumer and Fisher spent the entire summer apart on a trip to Europe with Jerry Seinfeld and his wife Jessica.
By the end of that summer, the two met again in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, and are thought to have been in a relationship ever since. But friends say the couple’s focus is on their beloved 6-year-old son, Gene.
“While there is no chance that their marriage can be repaired, Amy also wants to have as friendly a co-parenting relationship as possible with Chris, so they are considering what will work best,” the source said.
Schumer is worth an estimated $45 million from her hit Netflix stand-up show and movies, but it’s not yet known whether there was a prenuptial agreement that gave Fisher the right to split the money.
Schumer alluded to her marital woes on Instagram on Monday, writing, “Whatever happens to me and Chris has nothing to do with weight loss or autism.”
“I worked hard to get through it,” she continued. “He’s the best.”
After hearing this message, Madonna replied, “Why do you feel the need to apologize if you care about yourself? People will always have their own judgment and opinions. Do what makes you happy and healthy.”
The “Trainwreck” star shares manager Guy O’Seary with the “Hung Up” singer.
Sources said Schumer is already preparing to move back to Manhattan because the couple’s son has been admitted to a good school in the city.
She lowered the asking price of her historic Brooklyn Heights home, made famous by the movie “Moonstruck,” by $1.25 million. It’s currently on the market for $12.75 million.
“Even though he got into a good school, it’s just too much of a 45-minute commute to take my son to school every day,” Schumer told The Wall Street Journal when she first put the property on the market in March.
Rumors of Schumer and Fisher’s breakup intensified last month, with the “I Feel Pretty” star reminding fans in an online post that the two were “still married.”
A representative for Mr. Schumer did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
The comic has battled a series of health issues in recent years. She had a hysterectomy and has been treated for Cushing’s syndrome, a condition in which there is too much cortisol (a major stress hormone) in the body.
On Monday, Schumer posted an Instagram reel taken by her son that began with Schumer lounging in bed, followed by Jean sharing a peek inside the family’s home. While the video itself included a tour of various rooms, Schumer added text clarifying any “questions” she had about her weight loss journey.
She began by saying that she had not had Botox or fillers, and that she had lost 50 pounds, despite reports that weight loss drugs had not caused her to lose 30 pounds. “I did it to survive.”
“I had a potentially fatal illness that left my face severely swollen, but the internet found out and I was cured,” she wrote, apparently referring to Cushing’s diagnosis.
“I’m sorry for how losing weight made you feel,” Schumer continued. She has had plastic surgery “over the years” and has been open about having had liposuction, and reiterated that she has also had Munjaro weight loss injections. “I’m sorry to anyone I’ve disappointed.”
But she said she is now “pain-free” and can “play tag” with Gene.
She also revealed in February 2024 that she was experiencing menopause at the same time as her endometriosis diagnosis. “If anyone has questions about how I look or feel or the perimenopausal process, I’m happy to share.”
