Amy Schumer didn’t lose weight to “look cool.”
The comedian revealed the motivation behind his latest transformation on his Instagram Reels on Monday, explaining that he lost 50 pounds to “survive” Cushing’s Syndrome.
The actress was diagnosed with the disease in 2024, which the National Institutes of Health says “occurs when the body produces too much of the hormone cortisol over an extended period of time.”
“I had a very swollen face that could have killed me, but the internet discovered it and I was cured,” Schumer said.
The “I Feel Pretty” star went on to acknowledge that anyone who feels “disappointed” by their weight loss.
“I didn’t lose 30 pounds, I lost 50 pounds,” the Trainwreck star, 44, clarified. “I’m sorry for how losing weight made you feel.”
The Emmy winner said, “I’ve had plastic surgery for years and I’ve been using Munjaro. I’m sorry to anyone who thinks I’m disappointed. It doesn’t hurt. I can play tag with my son (Jean).”
“If you have any questions about how you look, feel, or the perimenopausal process, I’d be happy to share more,” Schumer told her followers.
Additionally, the “Inside Amy Schumer” alum wrote that “whatever happens” in her marriage to husband Chris Fischer “has nothing to do” with her weight loss or the chef’s autism.
“It was disappointing,” the Golden Globe winner concluded. “He’s the best.”
The couple, who wed in 2018, sparked rumors of a breakup last month, but Schumer’s rep only insisted that the two are “committed” and “privately working through the normal issues that long-married couples face.”
However, Schumer posted a photo on Instagram over the weekend without her wedding ring, fueling speculation.
Social media users gushed over her slim figure in the photo, calling the Tony Award winner “Benjamin Button” and demanding access to her “time machine.”
Schumer revealed in March that he was having a “great” experience taking Munjaro after several “horrible” years at Wegoby.
“I wanted to tell you the truth about that,” she said in an Instagram video at the time.
Two years ago, Schumer accused celebrities of secretly using semaglutide and urged them to “stop” lying during an appearance on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.”
“You’re either in Ozempic or one of those or you’re done. Be honest with people,” she said in 2023.
