What you need to know
Amy Poehler has captured the attention of listeners in just a few months since she started the podcast game, but there’s one listener who’s still hoping to get hooked on Good Hang with Amy Poehler.
While speaking to the media at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards, the 54-year-old Parks and Recreation alum revealed which celebrity she’d be “thrilled to know” was a fan of her podcast: Meryl Streep.
“It would be nice to know if Meryl listens to it, maybe. Or, I don’t know, I’d like to know if Snoop (Dogg) listens to it. I don’t think so,” she said of the rapper, who presented her with the inaugural award for Best Podcast at the ceremony on Sunday, January 11.
“This is something that people come up to me all the time and say they put it on when they do something, they listen to it in their car,” she added. “Honestly, I just reached a lot of people right now…and that’s the thing about the podcast, it’s pretty international. A lot of people are listening. So I think if someone very far away was listening, I’d be pretty excited. But Meryl too. Meryl too.”

Poehler has previously confessed her love for 76-year-old Streep. During an appearance on the podcast “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend” last year, she said one of the highlights of the SNL 50: Anniversary Special was sharing a dressing room with Streep.
“There were so many people that we had to share changing rooms,” she said. “So I was sharing a dressing room with Meryl Streep, like a fan. I took a picture of the door with my name and Meryl Streep written on it. It was really cool.”
“She was preparing for the sketch and was rehearsing seriously,” Poehler added. “And I remember thinking, ‘I’ve never rehearsed this moment as hard as Meryl Streep.'” I was like, “Don’t overthink it!” Just say it out loud! ”

Poehler’s Good Hang won best podcast on Sunday’s show, beating out Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert, Call Her Daddy, The Mel Robbins Podcast, Up First and SmartLess. When Snoop Dogg handed her the trophy, she joked, “It’s exactly how I imagined it. Snoop gave me the award.”
“What I want to say is, I know I’m new to this game. I have a lot of respect for this form. I have a lot of respect for all the people I was drafted with,” Poehler said. “I’m a big fan of all of you, except for NPR, all the celebrities call me. So try harder.”

After a playful jab at NPR, Poehler called Good Hang “an attempt to create a very rough and unkind world filled with a little more love and laughter, laughing with people rather than at them.”
“And we’re having such a great time. And thank you so much for letting us make more,” she said, before telling her parents, “You can watch the Patriots now.”
Poehler, who won a Golden Globe Award in 2014 for her performance in Parks and Rec, launched Pod in March 2025. According to the description, the comedian will welcome “celebrities and fun people” into the studio to discuss “their careers, mutual friends, common passions, and most importantly, stories about what makes them laugh.”
