2013 “American Idol” contestant Caleb Flynn was arrested and charged Thursday in Ohio with the murder of his wife, Ashley Flynn.
Caleb, 39, is charged with one count of murder and two counts of felonious assault with a deadly weapon. He pleaded not guilty. Ashley, 37, was found dead in her Ohio home in the 900 block of Cunningham Court in Tipp City in the early morning hours of Monday, February 16, according to local media. At around 2:30 a.m., Caleb called 911 to report that someone had broken into his home and shot Ashley, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Caleb told police he didn’t see anyone at the home, but the garage door was open, according to the Dayton Daily News. Police said the side door to the garage was open and there was a refrigerator in front of the door that had to be pushed. Caleb was booked into the Miami County Jail on Thursday.
“The Tipp Police Department appreciates the community’s patience and support as this collaborative investigation team worked diligently on this complex case. We also extend our sincere gratitude to the many agencies that assisted and continue to assist in this tragic loss of life investigation,” Tipp Police Chief Greg Adkins said Thursday.
In 2013, Caleb said in an interview on American Idol’s Road to Hollywood that he was a music minister and that his wife encouraged him to audition for the singing competition show. “I love my lord with all my heart and I love my wife more than anything,” he said in an interview. “She’s very, very pretty. I love her. I’m just a normal person who loves singing more than anything else in this world.”
