“American Idol” season 8 contestant Randy Madden has been arrested on suspicion of having sexual relations with a minor.
On Monday, Madden, 45, was charged with six felonies, including unlawful sexual intercourse, oral copulation with a person under 18, and anal and genital penetration with a foreign object.
According to TMZ, which first reported the news, he also faces charges of sending harmful substances and enticing witnesses to dissuade them from reporting a crime.
The charges relate to at least one sexual encounter between July and September, according to court documents obtained by the outlet.
The age of the victim is not known at this time.
Madden pleaded not guilty and was taken into custody with the assistance of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.
He was ultimately released from jail on Tuesday morning after posting $100,000 bail.
Page Six reached out to both Madden and the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, but did not immediately receive a response.
“American Idol” fans may remember Madden from the reality singing competition’s wild Season 8 auditions in 2009.
Madden auditioned in Phoenix and performed Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer” in front of judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson and Carla DioGuardi.
However, his attempt to go to Hollywood failed as all four judges voted “no” and his journey on the show ended.
That year, Kris Allen went on to win after competing against Adam Lambert and Danny Gokey.
