That buster is back.
Amelia Gray Hamlin stepped out in Los Angeles on Thursday night wearing a shocking pair of low-rise (and totally sheer) pants from McQueen’s Spring 2026 collection. Inspiration, of course, comes from Alexander McQueen’s iconic bumster pants from the early 1990s.
The see-through slacks, which hung permanently around Hamlin’s waist, were finished with light ruffles and a slim leather waistband that nestled securely under the straps of the style star’s thong.
The 24-year-old, who recently made her acting debut on the FX series “The Beauty,” paired the pants with the same cropped moto jacket she styled on the runway.
“It wasn’t about showing my butt,” the late McQueen told the Guardian about his provocative butt, which appeared in his debut collection in 1993.
“For me, that part of the body, the lower spine rather than the butt, is the most erotic part of the body, male or female.”
Paying homage to the brand’s founder’s original vision, current McQueen creative director Sean McGirr has put a different spin on the scandalous low-slung trousers for spring. In addition to Hamlin’s burnout velvet version, he showed off bumsters in denim, leather, and wool, some paired with peek-a-boo G-strings.
“I had been thinking about doing Bastards for a year,” McGirr told Vogue at the time, “but the timing just wasn’t right.”
With the low-rise revival in full swing, for better or worse, there’s no better time to show off your fashion flair.
