“Summer where I’ve become beautiful” is not over yet.
Following the series’ finale on Wednesday, Amazon Prime surprised fans by revealing that the hit series is getting a movie.
The show’s official Instagram account shared a photo of Lola Tung (drawing the belly of the main character) with on-screen love interest and Christopher Briney (playing Conrad), and posed in front of a sign announcing big news.
“Summer made the movie clean,” the caption reads.
There is no details on what the plot will turn out, but it will be directed by Jenny Han, author of The Summer I Tunder Pretty, who wrote the trilogy of books on which the show is based.
“There is another big milestone left in Berry’s journey, and I thought only the film could give it a proper deadline,” she said in a statement. “I am very grateful to Prime Video for continuing to support my vision for this story and for allowing me to share this final chapter with my fans.”
“Summer is Beautiful” spanned three seasons on Amazon Prime. Apart from Tung and Briney, the show also starred Gavin Casalegno (Jeremiah), Sean Kaufman (Steven), Rain Spencer (Taylor), Jackie Chung (Laurel), Tom Everett Scott (Adam), and Rachel Blanchard (Susannah).
Season 3 followed an unfortunate wedding with Jeremiah of Berry before moving to Paris, France for a fresh start. In the finale, Berry finally chose whether he wants to be with Conrad.
In addition to being a hit with Amazon ratings, the show is also extremely popular on social media.
Han is also a candid fan of the 35-year-old pop star, which also features multiple Taylor Swift songs.
Han said of the audience for the show in a Q&A published by the Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday:
“I’ll scroll through my page for you. It’ll be a college woman, and a 50-year-old man,” she continued. “I think people are very curious.”
