Taylor Swift’s brand new music video for “The Fate of Ophelia,” the lead single of her latest album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” is a true fashion east feast.
The four-minute clip, billed by Swift (who wrote and directed both visuals), is a charming synchronized swimmer who watches music icons, clad out of the habits of false designers of the industry, including late Hollywood legends.

Shakespeare Style
Swift slips into the role of Ophelia, as depicted in an Alberta Ferretti etheric ivory gown with romantic floor-length sleeves and tiered frilled hems, as depicted in Sir John Everett Miraice’s 1851 painting.
According to the brand’s press release, the custom georgette dress was brown-dyed to achieve a proper bone-cooked aesthetic.
Gentlemen prefer blondes
Next, Swift transforms into Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe with a red Versace bodysuit, opera gloves and garter belt covered in crystals and beadwork, with a ruby-colored Jimmy blonde wig, beauty mark and an astounding La Rain Schwarz diamond. (After all, they are girls’ best friends.)
The appeal of a girl group
Swift transforms into the lead singer of a group of ’60s girls in the Ronette style, with the Grammy Award winner and her two bandmates dressed in Roberto Cavalli Halter. According to a press release of the home, the looks are made of metallic leather diamonds linked by metal rings and finished on top with a built-in crystal-studded choker.
Sapphire-colored Jennifer Bear Crystal Earrings and refined brunette wig finish off the Swift look.
I’m going to the sea
Next comes a quick set of redheads in a sparkling silver Paolo Sebastian gown with exposed corsets and arrow motifs on the handboard. Their appearance is inspired by the fall 2024 couture collection entitled “Lovers’ Kisses” and is a perfect Shakespearean inspiration.

Make a splash
For her next act, the diva gets cues from Busby Berkeley and shows off some flashy footwork in a pilet-covered swimming cap and aquamarine-coloured area swimsuit styled in a Tinsel Boa. All of her dancers are dressed in matching looks.

Everything was tied up
She shows us the showgirl life ropes in a custom Roberto Cavalli gown made from cords and gold crystals decorated with Joanna Laura Constantine Choker, colorful Sana Mama gem rings and antiques for future reference bangles from the mid-1800s.
Razzle Dazzle
No one designs a showgirl like Bob Mackey, so it’s fitting that he incorporates the archival style of the so-called “Sequin Sultan” into the first music video of this new era, namely feathered headpieces.
“He’s a master of his craft and his designs have endured decades,” Las Vegas stylist Jose Rodrigo, who worked extensively in vintage Mackey’s designs, previously told Page Six Style.
“They were built with the best and best.”
The advantages of fringe
Swift’s pure sparkling party dress for the video’s grand finale is the work of New York designer Kelsey Randall, who speaks exclusively about the process of creating playful pieces in the Page Six style.
“It’s all rainbow colors – mostly pink and purple shades, but with peach, white and gold undertones,” Randall said. “It reminded me of Versace’s bodysuit on the Eras Tour, which is very iconic and iconic.”
The designer says it only took 13 days to make the dress in time for Swift’s shoot. So she tapped on her “most crafty” friend to help cut the chain fringe and crystal adhesive. “It was like a sewing circle, but a rhinestone circle,” she said.

“This (the image) represents the end of my night… my day ends in the bathtub,” the songwriter previously shared on “New Heights” about how “Showgirl” was inspired by her life during an ERAS tour.
“I wanted to have a behind-the-scenes moment on the cover of the album, not about what happened to me on stage, but about what I was going through behind the scenes.
