As Taylor Swift is the queen who drops Easter eggs on her work, it’s no wonder her new “Showgirl’s Life” album, which debuted on Friday, is plagued by hidden surprises.
“I can’t say how proud I am to share this with you. It’s an album that I feel is so right,” the singer wrote on Instagram after her latest project was released. “I’d like to forever thank my mentors and friends Max and Shelbach for helping me paint this self-portrait.”
The songwriter confirmed one theory that fans were right. In other words, the album’s song titles create the same shape as the ERAS Tour Stage when lined up along the center.
“It was real. It took them a while for them to discover. And they realised it and it was really fun,” Swift said on “The Elvas Duran Show.”
From lyrics about her fiance, Travis Kelce, to jabs her critics, continue reading all the Easter eggs I’ve found on Peppered on one of Swift’s most soulful records.
Travis Kelce references
Swift pleased the Romantics by throwing some love at Kelce through the lyrics.
In track No. 9 “Wood,” the singer doesn’t cried out so subtly to Travis’s “New Heights” podcast. I’ll sing a song.
Travis dropped his own Easter egg to unsuspecting fans when he captioned a slideshow of Instagram photos featuring Swift in July.
Fans said his caption to the lyrics to Swift’s album The Fate of Ophelia, “You dug me out of my grave and saved my heart from Ophelia’s fate / Land, the sea, the sky to your team / Saved the loyalty of the pledge, your team, your pledge to Vives.”
Swift also praised the tight end for his first move in the summer of 2023.
“I heard you call the megaphone / You want to see me alone,” partially read the lyrics. “And if you didn’t come for me/I might have owned in my depressingly.”
Meanwhile, “Opalite,” the third track on “Tloas,” is a complete dedication to their relationship.
Born on October 5, 1989, Kelse is a Libra and makes his birthstone opal and tourmaline.
“My mom told me / It’s okay / You were dancing a lightning strike,” sings Swift. “I can’t sleep on Onyx nights / But now the sky is an opalite.”
The lyrics suggest that she felt hopeless about finding love in a past relationship, but Kelce came and everything changed.
In the same song, Swift appears to be throwing shade at Kelce’s ex-girlfriend, Kayla Nicole.
“You couldn’t understand that, why did you feel lonely, you were on it for the truth, she was on her phone / And you were just a pose,” Swift’s lyrics hinted at Kelce’s toxic romantic past.
Internet detectives resurfaced the old video on Kelse to “get off your phone.” Social media users have doubled the theory that the song is about content creators. Nicole has frequently discussed her past relationship with Kelse on her podcasts.
Other songs that nod to NFL players include “Oldest Sister,” “wi$h li$t,” and “honey.”
Talk to critics
Aside from her love life, Swift also includes Easter eggs about her hatred in the savage.
For example, in her song “Really Romantic,” “Swift sang.
Some fans believe the song is a Diss track for Charli XCX, which opened in Swift on her reputation tour in 2018. The “360” singer is also a friend of Swift’s Ex Matty Healy, who the Grammy winner dated before Kelse.
“High five on my ex and then you said he’s happy he made me a ghost,” sings Taylor. “I wrote a song about seeing my face making you sick / Some people may offend / But it’s actually sweet.”
Married to Healy’s 1975 bandmate, George Daniel, Charli released her song, “Asmisy Is a Knife” in 2024.
However, Swift appeared to rest the feud rumours when he praised Charlie’s lyrical abilities in a 2024 interview with New York magazine. Charli also said that her successful “Brat” album does not feature a “Diss” track.
“Cancel!” Lyrics Read it like a letter to those exiled by the public, as the pop star himself was during the 2016 feud with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.
“Come with me and when they see us, they run,” she sings. “This kind of evil comes / It’s good that I like cancelled my friends / I like being covered in Gucci and scandals.”
Many netizens believed her mention of the Italian fashion house indicated that Swift was singing about her close peer, Brittany Mahomes.
“When you’re popular/Optic clicks, everyone thrives/But one drop, you’ve fed her/tone hearing impaired and hot, f-cin’ off her.”
A sporty reference to “The Roster” hinted at Brittany being the subject of the song when Swift met Wag through Kelce, who plays in the Chiefs alongside Patrick Mahomes.
In track 2, entitled “Elizabeth Taylor,” Swift compares the late Hollywood icon to the way they both made stylish living headlines. However, she acknowledges the difficulties of attention and sings, “I often don’t find it less attractive to be me.”
The album’s title track, the final song, features Sabrina Carpenter, and also tackles the downfall of fame.
“She said, ‘I sell my soul and taste an epic life, it’s all mine’ /But that’s not what the showgirls get / They’ll die us,” sings Swift.
The relationship has been revealed
Throughout “Tloas,” Swift also tackles the ups and downs of navigating relationships other than engagement, including her family and exe.
In her sixth track, “Ruin the Friendship,” Swift appears to recall her previous relationship from her youth who didn’t pan out.
“Enjoy, it’s the prom from my wrist / the hanging of a wilted corsage / over his shoulder I get a glimpse / And you’re looking at me / And it wasn’t an invitation,” she sings. “But the 50 cent song played/I should have kissed you anyway.”
When Swift first revealed the track’s title, Swifties initially believed that they could have a song about Blake Lively after a longtime friend had dropped out. However, the lyrics that she is in love with a boy who already had a girlfriend prove that otherwise.
The album’s fifth track, “The Elder Daughter,” was interpreted as a message to her family. Her parents, Andrea Swift and Scott Swift, are also parents to Taylor’s younger brother, Austin Swift, who makes her the oldest daughter in the family.
“This is not a savage AV because I’m not a bad bitch / And I’m not going to disappoint you,” the lyrics partially read. “I’m never going to leave you / So many traitors / Smooth operator / But I’m not going to break that vow.”
Regarding her song, “Father Figure,” Swift sings about being betrayed by her “Protégé.” It’s unclear who she’s referring to, but fans believe the song is about Olivia Rodrigo and Scooter Brown.
The song, an interpolation of the classic song of the late musical legend George Michael of the same title, was praised by his fortune.
“Showgirl” in production
Back in August, the 35-year-old pop star surprised Swifties by announcing the release of his Twelfth Studio album, making his debut on Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast.
“That’s why I wanted to show you something. This is my new album, “The Life of a Showgirl,”” she said at the time, lifting up the record and revealing the release date and tracklist.
Melody’s new collection explores rumors that Taylor will delve into his relationship with footballers and feud with former Besti Blake Lively.
Taylor produced the album with Martin and Shelbach, and Carpenter is featured in the final track of her album.
The 14-time Grammy Award winners delighted fans with several Easter eggs ahead of the much-anticipated album release.
Last month, she wore a blonde and velvet bodysuit from album artwork for the Target’s registered “Cloud is Your King” vinyl. The ensemble was part of the Fall 2023 collection and inspired by Taylor’s love of jewelry.
Page 6 quickly linked one of her songs to Elizabeth Taylor, and the singer famously honoring her relationship with Richard Burton with the Hollywood icon in the music videos for “Wild Dreams” and “Redding for Ladies.”
Additionally, Taylor hinted at a new project in the middle when she wore orange at the 2024 ERAS Tour Show in Miami.
The latest release of the “Bad Blood” singer is only six months after she announced that she has bought back the entire Master.
