Shortly after Gracie was born in 2013, Gomez told E!, “She’s adorable. I’m obsessed with her and she’s becoming a big sister. I know I have a responsibility to be a role model for girls, but when you have a little sister, you think, ‘Okay, this is justified.'”
She later said, “I’m very protective of her. I mean, it’s instinctive.”
In 2014, she shared a photo of Gracie as a toddler sitting at a piano and called her “the future.”

“If you’re feeling nervous or overwhelmed, just take my hand and I’ll take you there right away,” she said. “I told her, ‘This is my favorite red carpet I’ve ever been on,’ because she’s never done anything like that and we didn’t force her to do anything like that. Everything we’re doing… is to protect her, but my sister is so dramatic right now. She’s all about dresses and glitter.”
Gracie did so well that she was Gomez’s date at the 2022 Golden Globe Awards.
