All about Danielle Fishel’s two children: Adler and Keaton

Danielle Fishel’s parenting has received rave reviews. Just ask your two little judges at home.

The Boy Meets World alum married film producer Jensen Karp in 2018. The couple welcomed their first son, Adler Lawrence, in June 2019 and brought him home after three weeks in the NICU. Two years later, Adler took on the title of big brother when Fishel and Karp’s second son, Keaton Joseph, was born in August 2021.

In September 2025, Fishel’s family, including Adler and Keaton, proudly watched him take to the ballroom floor in his season 34 debut of Dancing with the Stars with professional Pasha Pashkov.

“During the commercial breaks, the kids were waving the whole time,” Pashkov told PEOPLE on the night of the premiere. “They were collecting confetti and throwing confetti in the air. It was cute,” Fishel added.

Adler Lawrence Karp, 6 years old

Fischel and Karp welcomed their first child, son Adler Lawrence Karp, on June 24, 2019. The couple exclusively tells PEOPLE that his middle name is a tribute to Karp’s late father.

The Girl Meets World star announced on Instagram that she arrived a month early but unfortunately had complications at birth, including fluid in her lungs. After 21 days of treatment in a neonatal intensive care unit with procedures to aid the healing process, Adler was well enough for his parents to take him home.

“He’s definitely a chill baby,” she later told PEOPLE, adding that he was born with a lot of hair. “He gives us a lot of smiles, and…he’s very curious.”

Over the next few weeks, Fishel also shared heartwarming behind-the-scenes moments, including the first time he met his son and former co-stars Ben Savage and Sabrina Carpenter.

In 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic affected the United States, the actress expressed her gratitude for him by celebrating his first birthday.

“In a dark year, you brought endless joy,” she captioned his photo. “Thank you for making it easier to get out of bed at 5:50 a.m. every day because I know your smile is waiting for me. And coffee.”

While protecting Alder’s privacy, Fischel shared glimpses of Alder’s milestones, including when he started walking, when he started talking, and his first memories of the holiday season.

In addition to his father and mother, Adler also had a special bond with his late maternal grandfather Joseph, who was affectionately known as Papa Joe. According to an Instagram post from March 2023, the two had a “great relationship” and Alder would often role-play and imitate him.

Keaton Joseph Karp, 4 years old

Fishel and Karp expanded their family with the addition of their second child, Keaton Joseph Karp, on August 29, 2021.

After breaking the news of her pregnancy on her 40th birthday, the actress announced the birth by posting a photo of her eldest son, Keaton, in her arms. In the caption, Fishel revealed that Keaton was born on his late paternal grandfather’s birthday and that his middle name is a nod to his late maternal grandfather.

“Adler is a super (hero) big brother and @jensenkarp and I are so happy he’s home healthy and safe,” the Instagram post concluded.

My second son was ready to hit the ground running early on and was soon walking around the house trying to keep up with his older brother.

From time to time, Fishel posts sneak peeks of his family’s daily life, which includes arcade games. Couples take vacations and celebrate each other publicly.

“Happy Mother’s Day to the best boy mom in the world, @daniellefishel,” Karp wrote on Instagram in May 2023, adding, “She is as true a gift to them as our sons are to us.”
