Alex Rodriguez briefly reflected on the intensity of his relationship with Cameron Diaz in the latest episode of his docuseries.
On Thursday’s episode of “Alex vs. ARod,” when the athlete spoke about the New York Yankees’ 2009 World Series win, an old photo of her and her girlfriend appeared on screen.
“I feel like the World Series has come and gone,” the former MLB star, 50, told viewers. “I was at the pinnacle of my baseball career.”
He said, “There was a lot going on at the time.”
The former MLB star declined to go into further detail about his “relationship” with Diaz, with whom he was romantically involved in the spring of 2010.
The Charlie’s Angels stars confirmed their romance to ELLE UK in June of the following year.
The Golden Globe nominee, who has since married Benji Madden, joked that she was “living out of a suitcase” before giving the magazine some insight into their dynamic.
“All I want from him is happiness. All he wants is my happiness,” she explained to the outlet at the time. “He is not dependent on me, and mine is not dependent on him.”
After their highly publicized split in September 2011, Rodriguez called her ex “one of the greatest humans I’ve ever met and just an amazing light.”
This short-lived relationship wasn’t the first time Alex vs ARod mentioned his checkered love life.
During last week’s HBO show, he and ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis spoke about the events that led to the end of their marriage, including Rodriguez’s long-rumored tryst with Madonna.
The businessman would not confirm or deny his affair with the Grammy-winning singer, but admitted he “could have been more faithful” while married to Scurtis.
“In retrospect, I could have been a better husband,” he said. “I could have been more present… I could have been more sympathetic, empathetic, whatever.”
Rodriguez called baseball an “escape” from his personal struggles.
Scurtis said she felt a “sense of liberation” when the couple divorced after six years of marriage.
“At the same time, he was so upset that it affected me,” she said.
The pair finalized their divorce in 2008 and have since co-parented daughters Natasha, 21, and Ella, 17.
