Ireland Baldwin didn’t hold back as she reflected on her “lonely” childhood with a “toxic” family member.
The daughter of Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger told Substack subscribers on her “30 Years Old, Survive on Frivolity” blog on Monday that she no longer carries the burden of a “narcissistic, untrustworthy, addicted family member.”
The 29-year-old said she “grew up without two parents at home and no siblings to rely on,” explaining that she previously felt the need to “persuade certain people” in her family.
“Their recognition and praise meant something to me,” she said, without specifying who she was referring to. “There’s nothing more liberating than finally understanding how toxic these people are.
“My daughter (Holland) doesn’t need to know these people,” Ireland continued of her 2-year-old daughter. “I can protect her from them. I can do my best to build my own family image little by little.”
Her ultimate goal as a mother is to “show how real families treat each other.”
The former model, who lives in Oregon, expressed hope that she will find her “people” and “village” in the next 10 years of her life.
She went on to share a bulleted list of life lessons, including her respect for Basinger.
“Tell your mom I love you every day,” Ireland wrote. “Send her a message when you get to your destination. You’ll understand her like never before.”
She also reminded readers, “No one can fix or change you… so quit while you’re ahead of the curve,” before repeatedly writing, “You’re not fat.”
Alec and Basinger have not yet responded to Page Six’s requests for comment.
The former couple were married from 1993 to 2002 and welcomed Ireland seven years before their divorce was finalized.
The 67-year-old actor admitted on reality show The Baldwins in March that the “most disappointing” part of the breakup was that the legal battle had a “negative impact” on his relationship with Ireland.
The Emmy winner, who infamously called Ireland a “rude little pig” in a scathing voicemail during their custody battle, has vowed they are now on “good terms.”
The “30 Rock” alum married Hilaria Baldwin in 2012 and the couple have seven children together: Carmen, 12, Rafael, 10, Leonardo, 9, Romeo, 6, Eduardo, 5, Maria, 5, and Ilaria, 3.
In September, Ireland slammed her 41-year-old “bat crazy” stepmother in an Instagram post celebrating Hilaria’s appearance on Dancing with the Stars.
“She saved my father’s life,” she wrote last month. “She taught him that he didn’t have to suffer in his own head or be stuck in his past. It’s never too late to admit you need help.”
Ireland credited Hilaria with fostering the “close relationship” she has developed with Alec.
Basinger, 71, also confirmed to Variety in February that she and her ex-husband have a “great relationship.”
