Alec Baldwin assured fans he is fine after his car accident in the Hamptons on Monday.
Baldwin explained in an Instagram video Monday night that he was with his brother Stephen when he crashed his wife Hilaria’s white Range Rover into a tree.
Alec said a huge garbage truck hit him and he swerved to avoid a collision.
“I hit my wife’s car. I’m disappointed, but I’m fine,” he said.
“My brother Stephen came to visit me, and we spent the weekend there for the film festival,” he said of the Hamptons International Film Festival.
“This morning I was in a car accident. That man took his hand off me,” he continued. “A big garbage truck…a garbage truck the size of a whale…it was the biggest garbage truck I’ve ever seen…to avoid hitting him, it hit a tree. It hit a big, thick tree and crushed my wife’s car.”
He expressed regret for causing damage to Hialia’s car.
“I hit my wife’s car and I’m very sorry,” he said. “But it’s okay, me and my brother are okay.”
Alec said he was planning to return to Los Angeles and confessed his love for Hilaria, 41.
“I’m still very proud of my wife,” he said, apparently referring to her recent elimination from Dancing with the Stars.
“Hilaria, I love you more than anything and I’m so proud of you,” he added.
Photos from the accident scene show Alec, 67, talking to police officers, and a large blue waste truck was also at the scene.
The Range Rover sustained significant damage from the impact with the tree, including a crack in the bonnet.
A source told Page Six that Alec was in the area to attend the Hamptons International Film Festival, which opened on October 5th and closed on Sunday, October 13th.
The actor serves as co-chair of the board’s executive committee.
“He’s been out all week this week, attending movies and moderating panel discussions,” the source said.
Alec took Saturday off from the Hamptons Film Festival to attend the Buffalo Film Festival and shared a video of himself having dinner in Buffalo, New York.
