Alan Ritchson will not face criminal charges after a scuffle with a neighbor was caught on camera.
The investigation into the incident with neighbor Ronnie Taylor in Brentwood, Tennessee, has ended after authorities ruled the 43-year-old actor acted in self-defense.
“After reviewing the available evidence, including video footage and witness statements, authorities have determined that no criminal charges will be filed. Mr. Ritchson’s actions were determined to be in self-defense,” Brentwood Police Department Lt. Stephen Peppin told The Hollywood Reporter.
Pepin also said the “Reacher” star rejected the charges against Taylor.
“The possibility of reckless endangerment charges was considered, but Mr. Ritchson declined to press charges,” he said. “With the consent of the District Attorney’s Office, the case is closed and no further action will be taken.”
Representatives for Ritchson did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
The altercation between Ritchson and Taylor occurred on Sunday as two boys, believed to be two of Taylor’s three sons with his wife Katherine, watched from a motorcycle.
Shocking footage obtained by TMZ shows Ritchson punching Taylor multiple times as he was kneeling on the ground.
Taylor told TMZ that the argument stemmed from an incident on Saturday, where she claims Taylor repeatedly sped his motorcycle on her street.
“And then on Sunday, as I was cleaning my bike outside my house, he rode past me once or twice. The second time I stepped in front of him and I said, ‘Don’t do it. Someone’s going to get hurt,'” Taylor recalled.
Taylor said the incident escalated quickly from there and she admitted to pushing the actor twice.
“The second time he got off the bike, I think he kicked the shit out of me,” he said. “He hit me in the back of the head and I fell to the ground and covered myself.”
Page Six was unable to verify the authenticity of a three-minute video uploaded to TikTok on Tuesday that appears to have captured the incident through a body camera strapped to Ritchson’s chest.
In the video, Taylor jumps into the middle of the road to stop Ritchson and two children from driving their motorcycles, causing Taylor to fall from the vehicle.
The two then got into a heated argument, after which Ritchson returned to his motorcycle, revved it up multiple times and demanded that Taylor get out of his way.
However, Taylor refused and pushed the bike and Ritchson twice, and Ritchson pushed Taylor to the ground before punching and kicking Taylor.
Mr Ritchson declined to discuss the incident in an interview with the Daily Mail on Monday, but later posted on Instagram a passage attributed to Napoleon Bonaparte: “Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.”
