Alan Cumming and David Morrissey will be appearing in Channel 4’s Russell T-Davis upcoming drama series, “Tip Toe.”
The five-part series by “Doctor Who” and “It’s A Sin” authors follows Leo and Clive. “But as life calms down, the world around them is even more tense. Words become weapons, opinions become radical, and gradually, two neighbors become deadly enemies in a tense suburban thriller, challenging everything we consider safe.”
Emmy’s winner Cumming (“The Traitors”, “Glenrothan”) plays the role of Leo, the interesting and dynamic owner of a bar called Spit & Polide in Manchester’s gay village. BAFTA nominated Morrissey (“Sherwood”, “Daddy’s Problem”) portrays Clive, the neighbor with Leo problems.
“The best things in life are worth the wait and the best people,” Cumming said in a statement. “Russell T. Davis and I have been trying to work together for over 20 years. Now we are not only working together, but we are working with one of my beloved, oldest friend, Dave Morrissey.
Morrissey added. “I am pleased to work with Russell again and work with Alan, my incredible friend for over 40 years, but we have not had the opportunity to work with him.
Filming has begun at Chip Toe in Manchester. The rest of the cast includes Pooky Quesnel (“The a Word”, “Moonflower Murders”) as Clive’s wife Marie. Jackson Connor (“Phoenix Lyze”, “Masters of the Air”) is Clive’s youngest child, George. Joseph Evans as George’s older brother Saul (“The Map Connected to You”, “CC Emily”). Leo’s best friend, Stephanie, is Elizabeth Bellington (“Lost Boys & Fairy”, “Last Night in Soho”). Iz Hesketh (“Renegade Nell”, “Hollyoaks”) works at Spit & Polish as Hannah as “La Cage Aux Folles” and “Cats International Tour” at Zee and Shakeel Kimotho (“La Cage Aux Folles” and “Cats International Tour” at the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre. Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo (“Wednesday”, “Devs”) as bar manager Judy. Paul Rice (“Saltburn” and “Napoleon”) as Melba, a fixture on Canal Street. Charlie Condu (“Doctor Who”, “Unforgettable”) as Leo’s ex-husband Curtis. Dennis Welch as Diane (“Waterloo Road”, “Coronation Street”).
