In their first joint campaign, Hollywood icons Al Pacino and Robert De Niro wear Moncler to wear holiday comfort.
The campaign, dubbed ‘Warmer Together’, tells the story of the actors’ 50-year friendship and the Italian luxury outerwear brand’s 70-year heritage.
Pacino and De Niro have never teamed up as the faces of a brand before, but the legends have appeared together in several films over their long friendship, including such classics as The Godfather Part II (albeit not in the same scene…), The Righteous Kill, and The Irishman.
Shot in New York by photographer Plato, the high-contrast black and white images convey five themes: friendship, respect, connection, trust, and warmth.
It also includes a photo taken from behind of the pair sitting on set chairs on a rooftop overlooking the Manhattan skyline.
Both De Niro and Pacino are integral parts of not only New York City’s filmmaking culture, but the culture of New York as a whole. The fit seems perfect.
To celebrate both the coziness of the brand’s timeless down jackets and the camaraderie shared between the two, De Niro teased in a press release, “Warmth has never been about the outside. It’s always been about what’s going on inside.”
Pacino echoed his sentiments, adding: “Friendship is the best thing you can have. Friends, people who share the same world. There’s just an innate trust. And an understanding of life.”
“Moncler is proud to connect with these two great friends and two great figures in the world of cinema and share their abiding belief in human warmth,” Moncler said in a brand statement.
The campaign was shot before Diane Keaton’s untimely death, and both greats lost close friends (and lovers on and off screen) to the late actress.
De Niro told The Hollywood Reporter: “I am so sad to hear of Diane’s passing. I loved her so much that the news of her leaving us came as a complete surprise. I never expected her to leave us. We will miss her. May she rest in peace.”
In 2017, when presenting the Lifetime Achievement Award to Diane Keaton, Pacino said, “I feel like I’ve known you forever… You’re an artist, Di. You’re a great artist. I remember that, and I love that, and I love you.”
The actor previously called Keaton the love of his life.
